Idecided to have lapband the other day,insurance was closed until  Monday,when I can call and see if I can even get covered. But it was suggested at another site unless im over 100lbs,forget it.I weigh 190.have high blood pressure,osteoarthritis,depression,and have urination when im not expecting it.Just how fat is fat enough?im 54 years old

it depends on how tall you are, check out what your BMI is, a 40 should be enough for the insurance company.

my  bmi isnt that great,you  see,its like 33or 34.

You have to check your policy.  Some only require a BMI of 35 if you have comorbidities,  such has high blood pressure, sleep apnea ect.  It really depends on your policy.  Go to the BMI section and type in you hight and weight.   Good luck Jane

My insurer (Humana) will generally approve for surgery if you have a BMI of 40 or higher OR if you have a BMI of 35 or higher with co-morbidities (such as those your mentioned). I got my lapband last August and am very happy with it.  Which bariatric office are you going to? Kathy
