I bought 2 padlocks for our 2 gates today and talked with this little girls parents.  Its been quite a day emotionally for the mom. She's 8 months pregnant and this scared her. It scared me too. We're going to be keeping our gates locked, the ladder on the pool swings up so unless one of us is in it, it'll be up and locked also. They're also buying some sort of plastic things to go over their door knobs so she can't get out. Not sure what they're talking about. But he left work this morning when she called to tell him what happened and went and got something. She said they used to use these as a precaution when Hailey was younger but didn't think they needed them anymore now that she's 4. She also burned her fingers on our electric fence we have around our garden, a couple of burned fingers are better than her getting in that dang pool. I'm just thankful she didn't get hurt or wander off somewhere. Our dogs came home and were fine, the main thing is she's ok.

When Adam got her home this morning he thought both of the dogs were back in our yard and he closed the gates. When I got up a little later I looked out and Hailey had let one of their cats out. My sheltie, Dan, had it treed in one of our Bradford Pear Trees. Dan is not a fan of cats, lol. I have 2 cats inside and Dan will sit in front of my front door when we're out and home we let the dogs run free and Dan and our cats will have a staring contest. So I'm glad that Hailey is ok, the dogs and the cat lol!

Hey Angela! Glad to hear everything turned out OK. Just a FYI for you and Kentucky Insurance. If you have a pool you have to keep it fenced and locked at all times it is not in use. If not then any accidents you are liable for. Also, if your current policy does not reflect any fencing and locks, and you have them, and you call them they should adjust your rate, so thats always a plus. If you do not have the locks though the homeowner is always at fault.  About 5 years ago my husbands youngest brother (He was 3) wandered out into the backyard, his mother rant back up on the porch to close her back door, turned around and he was already in the neighbors yard and at the bottom of the pool. He died 6 hours later. Since the neighbor had no fencing or locks he was responsible for all costs. I always try to warn people to be sure to get those locks! Not only to protect the kids but to protect you as well! Have a great day!

That is terrible. I am so sorry. I did get padlocks today. The gates are locked. The ladder is up and locked and will stay that way unless we're actually in it. Its a good thing I got the locks, she tried it again tonight. I just don't understand some ppl.

Oh no, that is terrible! Those poor ppl. I am so thankful that she is ok. I just wish they would keep a better watch on her. She came over again tonight without mom or dad knowing.
