Ive completed the seminar, the nut & dietician consult, the heart doc and lung doc all done and cleared for surgery. I have a sleep study set up for July 25th, and one more month on my supervised diet which will be completed on Aug 8th!         I am so excited but yet very scared at the same time . I am also torn on which surgery to have "the Lap-Band or Lap Rny" , I can not make up my mind the thought of having surgery does not scare me it is the thought of dying from a blood clot or a complication from it and never even making it home ..  Sorry to sound like a baby I had to vent somewhere  I come on this site many times thru out the day every day. I love to read the posts and the success stories! All of you who have the surgeries look so great and have done such a good job, congrats too you all! Too all the others that have not had their surgery yet good luck and god bless you. I pray everything goes well and works out for you on your journey to a new you ...Thank you for reading this bye bye ..........

its hard.. i can not make up my mind but i know in the end ill make the right decision. i also have alot of weight to lose i am at my highest 325 or so...i want it all off and quick but i know thats not possible because i didnt gain it over night lol. if everything works out ill be a loser like everyone else. i am not big on sweets its just how much i eat, the only way i can obtain a feeling of fullness is too eat until i feel myself getting sick or my stomach starts to ache.....hopefully the surgery will change some of this!  anyhow thank you for replying i love hearing other peoples advice & stories!

It is a hard decision.  I've had both.  I had the RNY 5 years ago and it was a success. Of the 180 lbs I wanted to lose to get to a normal BMI, I lost 130.  I kept it off for 5 years and by the grace of God have had no complications.  Then about 8 months ago, I started gaining my weight back.  I gained a total of 40 lbs by consistently overeating and stretching my pouch. (It can be done. WLS is not a cure, it's a tool,  and it does not cure head hunger or emotional eating.  The urge to eat will soon return so you still have to make good choices and exercise. Also, lots of people gain some weight back after the RNY longterm. It depends on the individual though) Anyway, I wanted to halt the gaining and finish losing my weight so I had the lap band placed.  I chose this because I felt I could get fills for life so will always have some restriction.   They say you lose weight slower, but you still can lose just as much.    The lap band is safer and  less invasive than the RNY because there is no cutting or altering your insides.  Also something to consider is if your insurance covers both.   I would suggest to research both, get on the message boards for both and see what people are saying.  Get the book WLS for dummies.  It has good information.  Good luck with whatever you choose.  You'll be glad you did....... Hello Queen Deneen ..Thank you for replying to my post....I think I have my mind made up now, I am going to have the Lap Rny.. I'm still scared but I have to do whats best for me I think. I know I have a long road ahead of me if everything works out and I am approved for the surgery! But its a road I am more than ready to travel. I come to this site daily and read everything I can get to come up. I dont think I will ever know as much as I need to know lol but right now I can say that I am content on what I have learned so far. Most of my questions here recently have been about my insurance which is medicaid, I have read and heard so much about what it will pay for, what it wont, what one person has it and is paying for and another going thru the same but it wont cover. I have spoken with Medicaid myself and found some of these things out, but on here I try to get a leg up and see what others are going thru at the same time..My best friend and sister had the LapBand 2 years ago and both have lost over 140 pounds apiece, they both look great, I wanted the LapBand because of it being less invasive and a tab bit safer than Rny but after finding out Medicaid will no longer pay for the fills "my docs office told me they charge $250 for every fill" I can not afford that much money if I am paying it more than 4 or 5 times a year, there is no way with my other bills, rent and stuff like that.. Anyhow I wish you luck with your LapBand, you already look awesome..thanx for replying  Toni
