Post-op gas
Hi,
I had the lap band 12-30 and I'm feeling good, however the gas pressure is still there. I Know gas is normal and I am passing it rectally, however, I am unable to burp. I have the sensation that I really need to and then I get an epigastric pain and then it goes away. The pain is pretty intense, has anyone else experienced this. I know I woud feel better if I could just burp.
Thanks
Oh my gosh Laura - I am feeling the pain with you. I had my surgery on 12-29. I walked twice on the 29th and three times on the 30th(at the hospital). The pain was so bad, I cried. I had it in my back and left shoulder very bad. I knew the only way to get rid of it was to walk, so I closed my room door and walked from the door to the window - back and forth for over 30 minutes. I got my next pain meds and felt tired from walking and got into bed. I got very comfortable and I was able to pass some gas. I finally slept. Since then, I walk all of the time. I burped once and thought I would cry from the relief. I have an island in the center of my kitchen and I walk around it over and over. Last night I walked for about 45 minutes. Later, I passed a lot of gas and felt so much better. Today I burped a few times also. Someone told me it gets better every day and so far it has. Good luck!

Sorry you're in pain. Are you getting enough liquids? Maybe this will help you burp. When I had my surgery I walked all the time to release pressure. It does get better. Your 1st 3 months are the hardest beacuse your body is adjusting to the smaller stomache but hang in there.............it's worth it!!
