They are pretty accurate... I even took a cheapy one from the dollar store and it was accurate with my daughter. The tests detect HCG in your urine. It is very rare to get a false pos preg test. I would strongly recommend taking a home test... if there is a possibility of being preg. Even if you were to wait till your gyn appt. They will probably do a urine preg test on you and possibly a serum (blood) Both ways of testing are accurate... with a serum preg though.... if it is pos, they can run a HCG quant which would give a rough estimate on how preg you would be. If they do want a serum preg.... just so you know....that test only takes a few mins to run in the lab... a quant however can take up to an hour. Good luck on the test whenever you do take one... i hope the results are what you wish for. Sarah

They are very accurate. You may get a negative but still be positive, but if its positive its positive. They have them at the dollar store and they are good. It use to be they were so expensive but not anymore. Some of them come 2 to a pack. I must have done a dozen and I got the same answer everytime, but then again I had twins!!!! Good luck Jane

They are VERY accurate, even the cheap ones. However use the urine 1st in the morning when the hormone levels are the highest. Good luck!
