HELP I'M WORRIED

I mwent to georgetown bariatrics this Wednesday and did all my testing. I got a letter in the mail today telling me that my triglycerides and white blood count was high and was told to go see my pcp and find out why this was and have them send the results to the bariactric office so they could proceed with my surgery. Any one know what can make ur white blood count to b high? Any info would b e appreciated and May calm my fears ....Please help....Tony

I'm pretty sure white blood cells are what attack bacteria/infections. So its probably just your body trying to fight off some cold or virus. They want you to be at the absolute healthiest that you can be before surgery and get everything checked out.

Thanks chris..I do have that bacteria that they check u 4 thats in ur stomach but wouldn't they know if thats what would b causing my white blood cells to b elevated...Oh by the way we r neighbors ya know

Hey Tony Boy, Don't worry! Both of these are common - your PCP will tell you exactly why both are up and how you will proceed to correct. Neither of these things should prevent your WLS journery from moving right along. And if this is a problem with your health - you want to know now and not a couple of days before your surgery! They can treat whatever it is to make you 100% ready for surgery. My triclycerides are always up because I have high cholesterol due to obesity. You probably do to. The only person to give you relief is your PCP and he may already be aware of both of these from previous screenings. When I saw the internist at my Tuesday appointment, my triglycerides were up to. Depending on your count, they may want you on some meds before surgery to try to correct you to better health for surgery. (Wow that was a mouthful!) You are so going to be fine and I will be here every step of the way for you. I feel much better about my situation now and I'm just awaiting my surgery date to roll around. an elevated white count can indicate infection.... I wouldnt worry too much about it ... See what your pcp has to say. If you have been sick even with just a cold it can elevate your white count. I dont think you have anything to worry about... I know my white count was slightly elevated before my surgery as well. Hope this helps. Sarah

That means there is probably an infection somewhere in your body. Or, that has been my experinece. Don't worry too much. I'm sure the PCP will get on it right away. Let us know what they say. I"m curious to know if it is an infection. There are other things it could be too. Let's hope it's something that can be fixed quickly. Good Luck & God Bless Sharee
