Ok, I know I ask a million questions but the past week my husband has noticed I have had halitosis. WHAT?! I am a fanatic about oral care and even though I'm on liquids I still floss! Has anyone else experienced this? It seems to be coming from my stomach rather than my mouth, so even though I have flossed, brusehd forever, and used listerine there are still traces of it. What to do????????

Okay, now I am not married or involved with anyone so no one is that close (LOL), but I have been wondering about my breath because of the protein shakes. I wonder if all of those have something to do with it? Since we are still on the full liquid stage, they iare a big part of our diet and they don't smell the best. Also, I have been taking the chewing vitamins and they smell too. I bet when you combine all of these things, you get a funny smell. Hopefully, when we start adding "real" foods, things will get better. If not, I would just ask your doctor, even though it might be embarrassing. Sara

I was suspicious of those protein shakes. I always have a gross taste in my mouth when I finish. Oh well, glad to know I'm not alone!

I believe you are experiencing ketosis. Your body is starting to burn the stored fats in your body which is a good thing. Unfortunately that is one of the side effects. try some breathe sprays or sugarfree mints to try to help just don't eat the mints let them dissolve.

I think you hit the nail on the head. I tried Atlkins 2 years ago and I remember the same thing happened. Thanks for the insight - breathe strips it is - yuk! I just hope this doesn't last forever!

It fades some but until you slow down the weight loss it will be there. I am slowly getting used to the fact I might have nasty breath even if I use mints. My hubby syas he dosen't smell anything but I sure as heck do. But yeah Buddah was right it has to do with the keytones in your body. My thoughts are that I would rather be losing and have funky breath than nice breath and not be losing.

My breath smells like fresh citrus and flowers. You guys are just funky. Just kidding....I always have bad breath too. It is just my excuse to not talk to anyone at work or kiss my husband. It seems to be working. My 3 year old told me the other day...."Mommy, you have stinky breath" I promptly went and brushed...AGAIN. It doesn't work. Now, I am eating Tuna...can you imagine what it smells like NOW?
