Hey everybody, I'm post op 6 days right now and everything is going ok except for the out of this world food cravings i've been having. Anyways, I was wondering if its normal for you to have the Lapband, even though its not filled, and have hardly any hunger whatso ever. I literally have to force myself eat.. but then I have to fight off the cravings, even though i'm not hungry. And whats with the weird pain I've been getting in my shoulders?? It hurts soooo bad when I hiccup or something. But only in my shoulders. Could it be the gas they use during surgery or what?!? I'm just hoping its not something serious!! Any advice ya'll could give me would make me feel 100 times better! thanks all~hope all is well~

The pain in your shoulders is gas. They warned us about it - from your surgery. I took chewable gas-x type stuff but it didn't go away until after 7 or 8 days. Also, I know it's uncouth, but try to pass it or burp it out when possible (that's what we were told.) You are going through what I did - craving but having to force yourself to eat (new experience)! I am 11 days out and still having to force myself to eat. Just try to make sure you get your protein in and eat regularly. One of the girls in our group hasn't lost as much this past week because she hasn't been eating anything and her body's metabolizm slowed to a screetching halt. Good luck! Hope you feel some relief from the gas soon!

I have experienced some discomfort when I hiccup or burp too. And, I don't even care to eat either. I don't even like water anymore. I haven't had the cravings yet. But, my surgery was just Dec. 5th. I'm sure they will come.... I have to say though that I have already lost 8 lbs.!!! YEA!!! But, it's a bit early to stick with that number. There may be a time when I don't eat enough and my metab. stops, or something. I hope that isn't the case, but.....we shall see. Good luck to you all!! And, that gas can be awful!! I haven't experienced any really bad discomfort from that yet either. So, far, it's been uneventful. However they DID find a cyst on my left ovary when the doctor was exploring a bit before doing surgery. He took a pic of it and said to go see my gynocologist. So, I may be having another surgery in the near future. I just want to get healed up from this one first. Probably won't be until next year sometime, if it can wait that long. Well, I'm getting kind of tired. I guess I will go lay back and try to go to sleep. Thanks to everyone who was concerned about me!! Hugs Sharee
