Hi everyone, I have a date for 12-28-06, with the wonderful Dr. Wheeler, but I have a problem, since I got my date I had to go into the hospital for some surgery, and while I was there they found out I was a DIABETIC ! Now I don't know what to do. I called Dr. Wheeler's office, and told one of the nurses what was going on, she said it was no problem, but I had to get my sugar under control before surgery. I have done every thing, it is usually in the mornings, between 174- 231. Have any one out there been thru this? What if I can't get it the right number? Will it mean my surgery will be delayed? Any pointers on how to lower my sugar, I am new to this and not doing so well. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to all! Leatha

Hi Leatha, Congrats on the date! thats awesome news. If I hadn't got my weight under control I would have been a Diabetic, I don't think it's a big issue as far as your surgery goes. Just another Co-Morb that alot of people have who are obese. I was taking Avandia and after my surgery I never had to take it again. They also checked my sugar while I was in the hospital for those 2 days. I guess one good way to lower it would to be diet and exercise, it would also get you ready for the surgery too. Your sugar will be monitored very closely while your in the hospital so I wouldn't worry to much. We'll all be pullin for ya. Take care. you have 23 days to go!
