I just got my lapband Nov. 30th, and before I got it, I just knew I was strong enough to committ to the lifestyle change that goes with it. I was doing really good at the hospital.. but when I got home, I am craving all the bad junk food that I used to eat. My family keeps cooking all the foods that I love, and its killing me. I was litterally addicted to food before this operation, so its really hard for me not to just eat. I did taste some spagetthi sauce. I felt really guilty afterwards, because I honestly really want this band to help me change my life. I'm just having a really hard time. I want some food so bad that I was crying earlier because I wanted to eat some chicken. I feel sooo insane!! I almost feel as if I shouldn't have gotten the surgery. That maybe I'm not as strong as I thought I was. I know that once I am able to eat "normally", and when the band is filled, that I will probably do really well.. but right now I am struggling. Has anybody ever gone through this after getting WL Surgery?!? And if so, how in the world did you overcome these horrible temptations?!? I need some advice asap before I go crazy!!! Thanks!!

I'm scheduled for Rny the end of this month and I'm concerned about the same thing. I havent done really well with pre surgery eating. I know that the surgery doesnt work on your brain. Im just hoping that once I start loosing that I'll be more motivated. I'm sure we'll do fine it's just a major adjustment. Good luck Lorrie

Maybe you need to ask your family to prepare foods you don't enjoy. I don't know how easy it would be but could you step out for an hour and do some shopping while they eat? Maybe they could support you and eat soup every so often. It's only me and my husband in our home and so far he eats soup or something I don't like (mystery fish, gyros, etc.) Juts keep telling yourself it's only a month - anybody can do anything for a month. It's hard but if you cheat you may move your band and then your even worse than you started off. What types of things are you eating right now? Ok, my doctor would KILL me but when I made my Low-fat cream of broccoli soup I added one, super thin, little slice of lite velveeta (extra protein, duh) and suddenly it becomes heavenly. Now, I don't suggest doing this every meal - but if you just need something to get you through... also the Jello sugar free pudding in Cheesecake is AWESOME! It tastes exactly like a Jello instant cheesecake (go figure.) The Pudding is pretty much what I live for (in fact, I think I'll make some now). Try to doctor up your soups with spices from your pantry. I know how hard it is but your new montra is "one month...just one month..." You can absolutly do this!

Stacy, I know how you feel. I had my surgery 2 weeks ago today. I am struggling as well. I am not having cravings. I am having hunger. I am very scared that this tool is not going to work for me. I think that is what makes me work harder. I don't want to fail! I get to advace to pureed tomorrow. I can't wait! I have to follow that for 1 week. The hardest part for me is that I KNOW I can eat regular food. I do not have any swelling in my stomach anymore and I am working with a regular sized stomach and eating like a bird. I agree that you should get out of the house while your family eats if they are eating your favorites. Otherwise, fix something that all of you can eat...soup. Take a long bath or shower while they eat and get your hubby to clean up...then when you eat your meal, it is outta sight. You WILL make it! Be strong...It won't be long before you get your fill and won't be able to eat what you think you can.
