Hi, has anyone had RNY at the V.A. hospital in Louisville,ky? My soninlaw needs it as he is a veteran, and we are about 150 miles from Louisville, and they told him he was too far away for them to do the surgery. I just thought maybe someone could direct me to the right person to contact. Thanks..Enjoy the ride!!! andhappy holidays

rosemary I checked the reviews that people have posted for both the hospital and the doc there and it seems favorable

Rosemary, I am a disabled vet and use the VA hospital in Louisville for a number of things. My PCP at the VA offered the gastric-bypass to me last November. She said the doctor they have on contract to do them at the VA in Louisville was one of the first to perform the procedure and was instrumental in its development. Not sure how true that is but I do know the quality of care at the VA is outstanding. In fact, this past summer, Business Week magazine rated the VA healthcare system as the best healthcare in the country. Their pharmacy accuracy rate is over 99%. That is something that other pharmacys can't come near reaching. I also know that the Orthopedics department at the Louisville VA is the best anywhere. It is actually run by the UofL. I didn't have my surgery at the VA, but had I not had the insurance I do I would have and would have been very comfortable with the decision. Is your son-in-law registered in the VA healthcare system. If so he needs to see his VA PCP to get things started. -Steve-
