nortons
I have heard so many sad songs about the nurses at norton suburan that I am scared to death. The bad floor is to be on is the 7th. But they say that the 4th and 5th floors are the best. I know that people are different in doing thier job and so it depends on who u get and what kind of day they are having. I also know that Dr. Shina will respect only the best service out of them all. I was on his web site this week and his wife Holly was talking about the nurses care also. If I should have any smack from thi=ose nurses on he 7th floor or any floor I will surely let Dr.Shina and staff take care of it. Have any of u ever hade a bad stay at that hospital??? 16 days to go.
Hello Theresa! I had my Lap RNY two weeks ago at Norton Suburban Hospital (Dr. Shina did my surgery) and my room was on the seventh floor. I could not have ask for a better nursing staff while there. The floor was quiet, they always came immediately when I rang the nurse's bell, they always told me exactly what they were going to do next..... I have had hospital stays in all the major hospitals in Louisville and I have to say this one was right up there with the best. I had my surgery on Friday afternoon and was released on Monday afternoon. My only complaint was that they kept bringing very salty chicken broth for me to eat/drink and it was waaaaaaaaaaaaay too salty!! Otherwise, the nurses were great and very supportive during my stay. Evidently, most the patients on this floor are bariatric patients, like us. I think you will be fine after your surgery at this hospital!!

Theresa,
I had both my c-sections at Suburban and they were wonderful. It is my hospital of choice (vs. Baptist East at least). The 7th floor is supposed to be the best with private rooms, etc. Norton's Bariatric team would definitely would want to know if you're having bad service. You're right, though. Don't take any smack from anyone. Just make sure if you need something that you let the nurses know. They typically do want to help but sometimes might not know what you need if you don't ask. Good luck!

Hi Theresa,
I just got out of the hospital after being there for ten days with a PICC line infection. Since my bypass in April, I have been in the hospital 4 times. Every time I have been on the 7th floor and the nurses have been WONDERFUL!!!! This recent trip, I was put on the 5th floor since I had a fever. The nurses were TERRIBLE!!!!!! I sat puking and dry heaving for 1 1/2 hours. I had called 3 times that I need medicine for mausea and pain and it took them 1 1/2 hour to get to me. Last Wednesday, I went into the bathroom and felt really wierd. I felt myself blowing up and my heart ready to jump out of my chest. I felt like I was going to pass out. I pressed the nurse's bottom 3 times before they finally came in. I told them I needed help and didn't feel right. 25 minutes, they showed up and were freaking out. My heart rate was 155. They moved me to another floor to be monitored. If I ever have to go to the hospital again, I will NEVER be on the 5th floor. If I can't be on the 7th floor, I will go to another hospital.
