Dr. Weiss didn't preform my surgery but Dr. Oldham did and they are both excellent doctor's. Georgetown is now a center of excellence. You are in great hands. Good luck.

You are in excellent hands! Dr. Weiss did my RYN & it went great. As far as I know, they are the only team that goes into surgery together. The staff & after care couldn't have been better & the same with G-town hospital. You'll be on a very structured diet after surgery but stick to it. I've lost 86# so far & I haven't missed eating like I use to. My insurance was being a butt so it took me about 1 year but the office kept me informed the whole time. I can go on & on but I'll stop! Any ?'s feel free to ask me. Best of luck Susan.

I went to St. Joes East, but have heard excellent things about Georgetown. I think you're in great hands! When I first started researching the surgery in my area this last year, I believe Georgetown said it took a week (up to 10 days) to get a response back from filling out their application. Have you gone to the seminar yet? Let us know how it goes for you. Welcome to the boards by the way-- Dee

Hi Susan, I had my surgery at Georgetown on Oct. 2. My surgeon is Dr. Oldham, but as far as I know, Dr. Oldham and Dr. Weiss, both work together on each surgery. I felt that I was taken excellent care of while in the hospital. I cannot imagine having better care anywhere else. How long your process will take will depend entirely on your insurance company. I ended up having to wait a little over a year because of insurance requirements, and then my insurance switched from BGFH to Humana. That slowed everything down even more. Some people have hardly any wait time and for others it seems forever. Good luck to you! Leisa

Hi Susan I had my surgery at Georgetown with Dr.'s Weiss and Oldham in 2004. I had the Gastric Bypass and have lost 190 pounds. I have went from a 28W pants to a 4, and 3X shirts to Smalls!!! They are both wonderful surgeons! The care, compassion, and bedside manner of both of them was top notch, and the aftercare if great as well. The office staff, nurses, and hospital are great also. I was so impressed with the whole program, that last year I accepted a position at The Bariatric Center and now I also work with them. SO I am a little partial to Gtown, but I was that way before it became my workplace as well. You can call me at anytime about your packet, and I will discuss how the program works with you then. I look forward to talking with you Tonya Tomlison/WLS Patient Intake Coordinator The Bariatric Center @ GCH 888-868-0008 toll free [email protected] [email protected]

Thanks Tonya for easing my fears , I am so ready to begin this Journey , I have completed my packet and returned it on Monday . They should have got it by Tuesday . I am wondering how long it will take them after they get my packet back for them to contact me . My Dr is supporting me 100% in this and willing to do what ever needs to be done . I have Cigna Insurance and they pay 100% . I am nervous ,anxious, ready , excited . I'm wondering what took me so long to get the process started . Do you know how long the waiting process takes . I've heard 3 months,6 months,9months . Any suggestions would be helpful Thanks Susan Gooch
