Theres always places hiring... even if its fast food chains.
As far as a bday party goes.... have a small family get together for her.. she's not gonna know the difference anyway....For extra cash flow... how about cutting every day costs of things that you could do without... you could also go to a consignment shop for the clothes that dont fit you anymore.. theres some extra cash flow.
Consigning is a GREAT idea! You can round up old toys that the kids don't play with anymore or have outgrown, clothes or shoes. Clean out your closets..you would be very surprised. You don't have to have money up front to do it and it is easy cash. Have a yard sale. That is more work but it can be profitable.
Jessica, what kind of job are you looking for? What experience do you have? What kind of hours do you want to work? You have internet access. You can post your resume out to Career Builder or Monster and let the interview offers come to you. You can also search for jobs on the internet. Depending on what you are looking for, there are thousands and thousands of jobs out there. You just have to look for them.
Jessica, You can have a yard sale. Consigning is a great idea. When things were really tight here we had to give up the Internet for awhile. Maybe since you are a stay at home mom you could babysit. You can make a cake and make it special being a small family get together. Growing up we never had all these huge parties but I don't ever remember feeling disappointed on my birthday. It was cool to wake up to mom singing happy birthday. Then all my aunts would call on the phone. It was so neat getting a phone call and they would sing. For our birthday that was it. Mom and dad celebrated making what ever we wanted for dinner. The day can be made special in many ways. Since you are feeling better you could pack a lunch and go to the park. If you have family or friends close by see if they would like to go. Mix up a big batch of kool aide and take cup cakes. Kids just like to play. You don't need all the bells and whistles to make a child have a Happy Birthday. We all want to give our kids the best but we can only give them what we have and what we can afford.
Good luck
Jane
Hey there Jessica,
I hope that under the cir****tances, your daughter has a nice birthday. Having you around, family, and friends will be nice for her, especially if you do it outdoors where she can run and play.
I know when hubby and I needed extra cash, we always did the Ebay thing. It really does help with those few extra dollars one may need at the end of the month; I also like the idea of a garage sale.
Good luck to you and take care--
Dee

Hi Jessica.. Sorry you've been having money problems... I hope everything works out for you. I noticed you're waiting for your court date for your SSI.. I used to work for a Social Security/SSI Lawyer and going back to work at this point could really jeopardize your chances of getting your benefits. You can work but you will have to let the Social Security Administration know, and even then you can only work for so long before they declare you able to work full time. Then once you get to your trial if the judge sees that you've been working it is a major strike against you. I know its hard to hold out and wait for that date but in the long run it will be much better.
Everyone who has responded has given you really great advice.. I think, in my opinion, a small, personal party is much better than those all out ones..
Good Luck and I hope I don't come off as rude or anything..just looking out for you.
I know how long it potentially takes to get to the court date.
Take Care
~Katrina
