Wondering if I can lift yet?

I will be 2 weeks out from my abdominoplasty this Friday and I was told I could start doing light house work tomorrow. (I started today, oh well, its just one day. I can't stand a messy house, drives me nuts) anyway, this isn't real important and I feel silly for asking. Tomorrow is my normal errand, grocery day. Every other Thursday I go alone cause of my hubbys work schedule. I am wondering if I will be ok to go. I'm thinking the heaviest thing I will have to lift will be a gal of milk or 12 pk of diet sodas. What do u all think? I'm cleared for driving but not sure on lifting ordinary stuff like milk, sodas. Any thoughts? I got me a compression garment today. It fits like a pair of underwear but comes up under my breast. I'm liking it better than my old binder I had left from my gastric bypass. That binder was rubbing against the steri strips on the sides of my hips and my incisions there were killing me. Hugs Ange

I haven't had the surgery yet, but my only advice would be give the doc's office a quick call. Better safe than sorry, right? Good luck and congrats! K.

Well we decided it was better to be safe than sorry. I am going to wait and go after my hubby wakes up tomorrow afternoon. I just had thought I'd get it over with while he was sleeping but its better just to be safe than tear something up. I'm worn out from sweeping and mopping doing one load of laundry today. The vaccuming will have to wait. I'm pooped.

Angela, The milk will be fine. But the cokes might be a bit of a strain just yet. I was told not to lift for the first 3 weeks and then no more than 10 after 6 weeks. They said around 10 weeks I could start getting back to normal. I don't think it will hurt you, unless you are off balance or something. I may stretch those tummy muscles and you don't want to do that. IT HURTS!!! I made that mistake too early too.... ha ha I"m kind of like you -- I just can't stand it. (You might try bending your knees and squatting down to pick up those cokes with two hands and then bending back up. It used to help me. I noticed I used my legs and arms more and I didn't have to bend at the waist. Just an idea...) Hugs Sharee

Hey Angela, I'm glad that you decided to wait; I would hate to read on here that you ended up hurting yourself. I am like you too, I can't stand a dirty house and God bless the hubby, he is domestically challenged. Hey u, how are u feeling??? Our phone and internet was down all day yesterday cause of Alltel flooding out in Etown. Did u all get bad storms? Hope not, Friday night we came home from Western Ky, where Adams from, and we saw 2 tornados. It was scary but we made it home. Thank the good Lord. Hope u r feeling pretty good.
