OK,--- My surgery is schedule on the 19th of this month. I've met my surgeon on the 13th and I am soooo at ease by him with having this surgery. Here's my dilema--I'm freaking getting sick!!!!!! I started feeling yukky yesterday with an itchy/scratchy throat last night, and this morning it's sore and I'm coughing up some mucus. I started drinking some echinecia tea and I'm thinking about taking some Musinex. (I'll call the center first and make sure I can) I know this has happened to you Angela, before your TT, but is there something more I can do to help me not get sick? I really want to keep my surgery date! What can I do to zap this crap out of my system and get to feeling better? Thanks, Dee

Ok, when I first started feeling myself get sick I ran to my pcp and got some antibotics, cipro 500mg, and some mucinex. Drink plenty of vita c, get plenty of rest, also drink lots of water cause the meds will dry u out. Morning of surgery I still had some sinus drainage and woke up with a cough of course, not pleasant when u have a huge boo boo across and up the tummy. Go to your pcp today and get some antibotics and some mucinex, u still have 4 days before surgery so u should be fine just go to your pcp today! Good luck, ok. Robitussin DM or Robitussin CF is good. I used the DM while I was sick, dr ok'ed it. My daughter got sick day before my surgery and I got her the CF and it kicked it in the butt. She was fine by the next afternoon. Get to feeling better and get to your family doc to take care of this asap! Hugs Ange

Angela, Thank you for the advice. I called both the WLS-Center and my PCP. They both gave me the same advice; to take echinecia, drink plenty of fluids, and that I didn't need an antibiotic unless I have a fever. I am not even close to a fever, (thank God) so I am taking some left over sudafed medication that was given to me by the doc the last time I got this and musinex. I feel alright, just congested. I don't have a huge cough, just a slight one, but I do have big sinus congestion. I'm drinking the echinecia tea, (a cup every 3-4 hours) and I'm praying that no fever comes. I want this surgery and I was told that as long as I don't have a fever it will be a go. I'm hoping before Tuesday morning, the congestion will have subsided some. I sure hope so. Dee

I didn't know you could pass this stuff through the lines, but I had it too. All last week. I still have a cough every now and then with some congestion. I took mucinex the entire time and vitamin C drops instead of cough drops. They helped the cough though and I got in extra vitamin C. I ate chicken noodle soup and drank lots. I hope you get better before your surgery too!! Let us know how you are doing. Hugs Sharee
