And the Countdown Has Begun!!!!
I got the call from the WLS-Center and not only have I've gotten clearance from the cardiologist, but I've got approval for my surgery too!!!
My pre-op is September 13th and my surgery is September 19th!!!!!!
WOOOOOOHOOOOO!!!!
I'm so nervous and excited now. I'm freaking out at what to store my cabinets with to start and what will taste good and what wont.
There's so much to think about. I chose Dr. Steiner as my surgeon---here we go---weeee!

Congratulations!!!!!!!!! You will love Dr. Steiner. Don't stock your cabinets with much. I threw stuff away. I had bought piles of the individual yogurt, jello,, broth, popcicles and ended up throwing most of it away except the popcicles. I think the diet upthere has changed from when I had mine but I was never really on pureed foods, Just soft and mushy. I am so excited for you.
Congrats DEE!
You will LOVE Doc Steiner! He is super. Like Delores said don't go overboard and stock too much in your cabinets. Stick with popsicles. Always a good choice. My life savers after surgery when I went to mushies were cottage cheese and refried beans, and the occasional scrambled egg.
September 19th is right around the corner too! I am so excited for you. My friend also just got clearance from his cardiologist (oh yea his name was Doc Quazi) as well. He still has a month or so to go on his 6 mos diet but things are moving along for him as well! Talk with you soon!
You know I've been driving myself wacko trying to think of things that I should stock up with. I am glad that y'all have told me to hold off some. I am only going to get some basic stuff and go from there.
I can't believe the cost of the vitamins and protein, specifically the unjury, but I know I've got to have them.
Does anyone know of some good vitamins and calciums that one can get cheap?
Thank you all for your support. I'm glad that I came here.
Dee

I know how you feel I am so nervous i went through the EKG and bloodwork and gallbladder scan today. I have four days to go now , I have been stocking up on distilled water, crystal light, sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, I too am looking for the right protein powder, unjury is expensive especially when you have to have it.. Good luck..
The cheapest vitamins I have found are at Wal-mart. They are the One-Source brand. I bought the prenatal ones and started taking them. They have everything in them, including calcium & iron. Someone at the Dr.'s office suggested that prenatals would be good to take. You might even try the Dollar General Store. They also carry vitamins, and sometimes, Walgreens has vitamins on sale too. Hope I have helped. Good Luck to you.

Yes the Unjury IS very expensive! I've been pricing a lot of bariatric proteins powders and vitamins online and really, they're all about the same in cost. I've decided that I'm going to go ahead and use what the WLS-Center sales.
My hubby and I made the sample packet of the Unjury in some ho****er, to mix in with the jello, and it was really gritty and plain nasty. (I think the nastiness probably came from the fact he mixed it with super-duper ho****er AND peach--I really hate--jello)
I used that nectar stuff too, mixed it with just under boiling water and it was very, very, nasty looking. It lumped up and I wont tell you what it reminded me of.
I do like the pro-diet soups and the flavored protein drinks.
If I find something that is less expensive, I'll let you know.
