What are the local bariatric program charges?
I am not in the Louisville area, but St. Joes East has a $250 program fee. I think it's worth it, because they have a fantastic support group for after care surgery. I am really looking forward to that. I wish there was a way that they could have a better pre-op care/support. I know right now I could use a hand holding or two, but I guess they're just not set up for something like that.
I was hoping to make some friends for support, but that's still yet to happen; maybe over time. I'm not giving up yet.

Hi Katherine, when I had my seminar with Dr Shina I paid him my $15 copay for that day, that day I gave the nutritionist $75 and another $75 before surgery. I am not too sure since Riteweigh is no longer with Dr Geller and Shina if they still have the nutritionist. I only talked with her once or twice but for me to have surgery and have one of the greatest Dr's around, Geller is the other, then it was totally worth it. Now I just pay Dr Shina a copay each time I have a post op visit. I had surgery 3/24/05 and have lost over 170 pounds since I started on this journey. Its just been so amazing, I can't even explain how it feels to finally be thin, to finally like what I look like, to have so much energy. I don't know anything about any other programs cause I chose Dr Shina, not because of prices, but because I felt that I could trust him with my life and I feel the same with Dr Geller. Good luck. Dr Geller sometimes reads the post some maybe if u have questions he'll drop in and answer them if he's not too busy.
Hugs
Angela
Katherine,
The costs are about the same out-of-pocket as before RightWeigh left the program, maybe even a little less now depending on your insurance policies co-pay. Through the Norton Bariatric Center, I believe there is $100 program fee, and then the nutritionist and psychological evaluations are billed to the insurance. So, there may be a co-pay with both of those 'providers'. After the process is complete with the bariatric center, then a consult with the surgeon is arranged, and only the typical copay is due. Before RightWeigh left, there were two charges at $80 each with the nutritionist which were not billed to the insurance.
