Cardiologist
Hey All,
Has anyone here had a problem with the cardiologist to get cleared for surgery? I saw a cardiologist on Wednesday for approval for the surgery and did not get a good feeling form this gentleman. He seemed to have a really bad attitude toward me, especially since I was overweight. I have no problem realizing I am a fat person and don't need the extra grief at this time. He said he may have to do a heart cath before he could approve me and I have not talked to anyone that has had to have this done. Is there anyone that has had to go through this? This is not the normal cardiologist that the surgery group uses and I am thinking that is the problem, just not sure. I did have a echocardiogram done that afternoon and hopefully that is all that will be needed. My wife also saw this gentleman and she got the same feeling as I did. We are hoping he does not give us trouble in the process. I want us to both be safe and healthy enough for the surgery but I don't feel that we have to be treated that way persoanlly. We are there because we are overweight and trying to do something about it not to be berated by a cardiologist.
Just Worried
Michael
I think the thing that upset me so much with him is that he didn't speak loud and clearly. He was a mumbler. So, what I got from him was what appeared to be a little of fat biggotry.
What I mean by that is he, in my mind, made out like echo cardiograms couldn't really be done on fat people and would likely need us to have a heart catherization.
I didn't accept that and became a little upset with him, but still maintained my composure. Mike and I did have an echo done and just by what my "don't know what I'm looking at" eyes could see, I saw a beating heart. I'm praying that the numbers are good. (for the both of us)
There just seems to be a few people at St. Joes bariatric dept., (so far in my experience) that are not instilling confidence in me and Mike. They are rude, short, and act as though they really don't want to be bothered. I am doing my best not to read more than what it is into it, or mistake business as a personality conflict, but it's getting a little harder.
Now, the nurses in the cardiology department, are fantastic! Thank you Tracy for talking with us!! You are a gem!
I hate to gripe on OH, please forgive me, but it's just been one of those days. Although, if anyone would like to share their experiences, it would be mucho appreciated!
Y'all take care--
Dee
