Dr. Bolar's Relocated, NOW WHAT???
oh honey, you didn't offend anyone. And i hope i didn't offend you by being so blunt. I just wanted you to be aware that this is a common practice . I have never heard of PCP's or family docs chatging a fee to take you on as a new patient altho, that first visit with them is out of sight usually. But, the speciality docs are a different story. I found this out even with my rheumotologist many years ago. Anyway, good luck in your search and i hope you find the right doc for you.
I went to Dr. Bolar also. They all the test and took my program fees. I called almost 2 weeks later and they told me he was moving. I demanded my money back but have not gotten it yet. I told them they knew this someone had to know I will get my money back even if I have to get a lawyer to help me. I am using Dr. Nighbert at Saint Josepth East and I am glad.
Dr.Bolar new he was leaving in Oct 2005 when i had my surgery and he took my 350$ and then in may hes moving lol..............well now i had to give 250$ to Neighbert........i am so glad i have Neighbert now..............Dr.Bolar Doesnt believe in blood work or a good program.........so i feel sorry for all those tenn peps......you have made the best choice........................vickie r.
That really doesn't sound like the Dr. Bolar that I knew. Sorry that you were let down. I would just love to know what happened to prompt such a quick move with him. Something just doesn't seem right to me. When I had my surgery everyone there was GREAT! I don't know, and I really hate the unknown (not a good trait for an army wife but oh well). Glad to hear your with a doc you like now though. I hope all goes well for you. Have you had your surgery yet?
Thanks for the post.

OK...I have to offer my two cents worth on the subject. Our program charges a program fee (250.00) to help off set the expense of having to pay the nurses salaries for the work they do like the education classes and facilitating the support groups,(meetings and online) neither of which are reimbursable by insurance, yet require a lot of man hours. I know I spend an average of 3 1/2 hours just educating each patient and another 2 hours for support on average for each patients. You figure the average hourly rate for a seasoned nurse is $30.00 per hour, this can add up quickly.
Nurse's within the office setting spend a lot of time educating/supporting, but again, no reimbursement available. There are programs in the northeast and southwest U.S. that charge program fees of $1000-$1500 per patient to help offset those same expenses.
