Dr. Shina seminar Aug. 29th...
After many, many years battling obesity, I've decided to do WLS. I go to Dr. Shina's seminar on 8/29 and have scheduled an appointment with my PCP to get her referral and copies of my medical records. I hope to have lap RNY. I'm so excited and wish the seminar was tomorrow. I spend so much time on this site reading the postings and profiles. Everyone is so amazing! God bless you!
Question... how long was it before you were able to go back to work and start functioning normally?
Kim
First of all let me just say u have picked one of the best there is!!! Dr Shina totally rocks! At the seminar theres usually many people and he is great about taking time to answer each and every question someone might have. Then he talks to u one on one. After my surgery at all my post op visits he sits down and takes all the time in the world to see how I've been doing. He is always been just so great and I owe him so much. Enjoy your seminar and good luck!

Oh about your work question, I'm a housewife and had Open. It was 3-4 weeks before I felt anywhere near normal. Didn't even wash dishes for 3 weeks.
Kim, you have got a great Dr. there, he is very excellent in what he does, just follow his rules, and all will go great! I am finally at goal, its only been 50 weeks +5 days, so hang on for a great journey. Dr. Shina will tell ya what type he will do.....I was going in for lap, but he said he may end up doing open .....thank God he was able to do lap...........less time of recovering! Kim, I have a web site of pics if you chose to look sometime, its www.picturetrail.com/teresae~~ I am so thrilled with my wl results. It took me a good month to start functioning like before surgery, but it varies in different folks..........Just do what you can, and forget the rest. Happy Journey to YOU!
I just love Doc shina and his staff to pcs. they are always ready to help!

Hey there! I am going to that same seminar! I am Shannon and live in Louisville...hope to see you there!
I've also been wondering about the time off work.If it's Lap RNY which I hope I can do hopefully it will be a shorter time.I can't afford to be off work a month! I only work two days a week though.
