no more gallbladder for me!

HI folks..I had my gallbladder out yesterday, went into the OR around 10am..I believe I was home by 3pm.. Dr. Sonnanstine and the OR staff at St. Luke were so good to me, I ask Dan (nurse anesthetist) not to drug me until they were ready to put me to sleep, I wanted to say hello to everyone and see the room..he did as I ask but laughed at me,..lol After I woke up I looked around in recovery for the doc, but he was gone so I ask for him by name, nurse said he had already spoken to my husband..a couple of minutes later I look up and in he walked with this huge grin on his face..stood and held my hand as he talked to me telling me how well I did..and he was sending me home.. My husband is in total awe of how this surgery is done, he keeps looking at my belly in disbelief that any surgery can be done with 4 tiny holes..(my bariatric surgery was done open, the reason I chose a laparscopist this time) I am not sore today at all, slept well last night. and hungry as all get out right now.. so I am going to fix me some breakfast. I need to do a couple of hours of work here in my office, then If hubby will drive me I am going to run into the courthouse to file a document.. Just wanted to say hello and thanks for the well wishes and emails..all I can say for any of you who are seeking weight loss surgery or gallbladder surgery, do your homework, find the docs with the background and great training as well as skills..Dr. Sonnanstine spent a years fellowship studying nothing but bariatric and laparoscopic surgery so docs like these know their stuff. Thanks Dr. Tom for everything..I am so glad you were there for me, it made things so much easier to deal with knowing I had the best doc and a friend to take care of me. Brenda

Brenda, glad to hear your surgery was uneventful. Dr. Tom is very nice and attentive, which is reassuring. I've got my 2 week post-op appt. a week from tomorrow. Thanks again for recommending Dr. Tom to me! I'm extremely grateful!

Hey Sarah..when you are up to it I want to get together, I can have it here at my house ...it will be a blast...also in Nov I am still planning on a group get together, just waiting till next week to finalize things. I will let you know. Take care Brenda

I am so glad you are home and doing well. I had planned on coming to see you when I went to work last night but... you werent there lol I thought you were staying a night. No biggie as long as you are feeling good! I am sorry I havent gotten the chance to talk to you lately. My son was in Childrens last week over a cat bite... and my schedule is very crazy at the moment. I do have an update for you... 61lbs!! Sorry Sarah, I thought about you when I was leaving..sorry I didn't contact you but since you didn't have far to go to check on me..lol Glad I got to come home too..I feel pretty good, a little of the pain from the gas creeping up in my shoulder area but it's not bad enough to take pain meds or anything like that. I even had my hubby drive me downtown so I could do something in the courthouse..dumb dumb move..I was whipped when I got home. But feel ok now.. We will get together very soon, I will plan some kind of a get together for Sept. when the weather cools off. You can get on one of my horses.. take care Brenda

Benda I would love to hop on one of your horses! Dont over do it girl!!!!! take it easy ... glad you are feeling better though. It was no biggie when I got to work. lol definately not far to travel. I went to Janes last night and showed off my large scrubs haha had to do it. Oh and guess what .... I told ya the last time I saw you... that we were looking at trucks..... well I am now the proud owner of a super nice 04 GMC Envoy!
