That was my problem with the band. I was afraid I wouldn't lose much. I weighed 324 starting out and have lost 167 pounds in 16 months. I was just scared that the band wouldn't do that for me. I know its a tool like the rny and u have to make it work but with the band, for me, it wouldn't have worked as well. Hugs and let me know how it turns out! Angela

Congratulations, Angela! You've done so well with your weight loss, and you look wonderful. I know the plastic surgery will make you look and feel even better. Since most insurance companies won't cover plastics, could you share some of the things you had to do to get approval? I'll have lapband surgery next month, so thinking about plastic surgery is a long way off, but I'm just wondering what it might involve to get insurance approval. I look forward to hearing how it goes for you. Kathy

Hi Kathy and thank u! All I can tell u that got me approved is, I keep a rash in my belly button. If u get rashes or anything go to your pcp once a month and get it documented and get meds. The more documentation u have the more apt they are to approve u. Good luck on your surgery next month! Hugs Angela

Thanks, Angela. I had wondered if having skin irritation was sufficient. Making sure it gets documented is the key, isn't it? I don't know if I'll need plastic surgery later or not. It's been a long time since I've been a normal weight! I'm excited for you about your surgery. I'll get my surgery date tomorrow! I can't wait! Kathy

Documentation is the most important thing in getting plastics approved. See your pcp once a month and complain about every little ra****ch lol. Make sure he/she documents it each time! Let me know your date! I think my aunt Shirley Goodman had Dr Weiss...
