What does it mean when the doctor calls in a precertification to your insurance?? She said she called it in and should hear back in a week or so.

That just means they're checking to make sure you'll be covered for whatever stage of the process you're at. I was precertified at the beginning of my process. That allowed me to have initial blood work done and see the psychiatrist and nutritionist. I just got additional precertification for surgery, so now I know my insurance will cover it. Sometimes insurance companies won't pay for certain appointments if you haven't gotten pre-approval. Kathy
