It's official....
Yes it's official. I am on hold till around late Febuary next year. After speaking with both my HR at work and the insurance coordinatorat Dr. Tom's office, I have decided not to beat the proverbial dead horse. So unless I come into a huge windfall on the lottery, I will bide my time by doing a 6 month diet along with catching some bills up.
The reason being is that the claus I told you about is on one type of insurance we have at Fidelity not all. So in November I will submit my wish to switch insurance companies from Humana to United Healthcare.
INs coord. said I could appeal, since Humana did offer it. I asked if she thought that it had a snowballs chance in He^%, to which she replied not really. I then told her to put my case on hold and work with other patients who have nice insurance companies to deal with No since wasting time with Humana for me if all they're going to do is stomp there foot , shake their head and screech NO!!!!!!
Hang in there Ryan, I know you must be dissapointed but these things happen for a reason. I too know that Humana won't budge. Wait for open inrollment make the switch and in the mean time keep reading and watching. I took two years to decide. I too had to have a 6 mth wt loss but I had joined WW so many times that was good enough. You will be in our thoughts.

ahh Ryan that stinks...but hey don't give up and don't disconnect from the program..attend the support groups which I am sure they would be happy to see you there..listen and learn, look at this next few months of waiting as an opportunity to get to know the staff, Dr. Tom and many other patients, you will be so well educated that I personally will smack you if you're not ready!!! ha ha
I will call you soon..just finished up with work, had to run to church as I am the wedding events specialist this weekend, I have a wedding on Friday and SAturday..oiy!!
take care
Brenda
Jane and Brenda... I have been looking into this for close to six years. Talk about dragging your feet..... My decision is made; I want the surgery, I would rather not have to pay for it out of pocket if I can avoid doing so. That means switch insurance in november, it becomes effective Jan 1st. Due to business needs I can't even think of getting time off till march or may. SO that works great with doing the 6 month diet. Brend I will attend some classes but if I get any more prepared I will have to start conducting them

Well, that stinks.
I, too, had been looking into this insurance for years and years. I even went through EVERYTHING (incl. a psych eval that I paid for out of pocket -- $$$) two years ago, only to be denied by my ins. company. It was frustrating, but you'll get there. Something is bound to come through for you.
Ryan,
I'm sorry things aren't working out for you to get approved now. But it sounds like you have a good plan to give it another try. I really hope it works out for you.
It sounds like your company needs to explore the need for them to include WLS in their coverage plans. I'm sure you aren't alone in considering WLS. As I told you recently, several of my colleagues at my workplace recently had WLS. It's becoming more common as society becomes more aware of the growing need for help with obesity.
I'm sorry you can't move forward on this more quickly. Hang in there!
