question for women only
i'm not sure anyone can answer that. We all lose different and some even gain while in the hospital due to the iv fluids. Generally, you have to lose about fifty or sixty pounds to tell a difference. Also, if you are like most of us were, we wore pants that stretched. Soooooo, they are stretched to the max and it takes a while to actually start losing sizes where you can buy smaller. But once you do that, you will pass right thru many sizes and not even realize it. Good luck with your surgery.
so true..I use to purchase a size that fit and the next size down whenever I shopped,..the biggest problem I had was my undies..one day they fit, the next day they were falling off and making their way down the inside of my slacks..LOL
OK OK more info than anyone wanted to know..but it is true if everyone would admit it!!
Our support group had clothing exchanges that worked really well..

Hard saying not knowing is what I tell my patients! LOL
DOn't go buy a bunch of new clothes as you are losing as you will be going down sizes fairly quick. I recommend drawstring so you can adjust as you go down...at least for awhile! Goodluck!

Hey Jessica, the only thing I bought before my surgery was gowns, just a couple. I had the open and didn't want to wear anything tight or uncomfortable. After that I were my hubbys clothes, shorts, tshirts. I didn't buy much of anything till just in the past couple of months. I have been a clothes buying freak. Well, I have slowed down till after my tummy tuck, lol. My hubby says I wear him out asking him which outfit should I get, etc. But I have been behaving. He doesn't know it yet but I am getting a new swim suit to take to the lake with me Thursday when I go to Walmart...I'll tell him about it when I get home, lol.

I bought two dresses that had no seams to wear after surgery because your stomach will be tender. Then as I lost weight , I would go the Goodwill shop and get several items a size or two smaller than I currently was. you can find some noce things for really inexpensive prices. When I reach My goal I will go do real shopping! I was in a size 26/28 at 314lbs and 5'4". I am now 9 mos out and wear a size 12/14.
I go to consignment shops. The prices are cheap enough that if I only get a couple of weeks of wear it's OK. If it's elastic band or knit I'll go down a couple of sizes. If you find a great outfit in a way smaller size get it & that can be your "goal" outfit. I got 1 & I call it my "refrigerator dress"!! I have to pass it on my way to the refrigerator so it reminds me where I want to be.
