I'm home

Hi everyone, I made it home today. Yesterday was horrific as far as those gas pains. They DID warn us about the pain from gas but my word, I had no idea. The surgery pain was maybe a 2 or 3 and the gas pains at one point a HUGE 10! I was in the process of a burp yesterday and hiccupped with that burp which caused me to swallow air. NOT FUN! That wasn't the bad pain though. After moving around a bit, the worst of the pain eased up a tremendous amount. When they say walk, trust them, there IS a reason for it. I walked as much as I could but would get so sick due to the pain shot they were giving me I had to go back to bed. They switched my pain med on Tuesday afternoon and I was able to walk more. Today is much better. I'm sore but not unmanageable. My throat is very sore tonight and I don't know why. The soreness from the tube had already gone. I'll keep check on my temp if it feels like it's going up. So far, NO APPETITE! It's been five days that I have had no food in my mouth. Friday was my last meal and I only ate one time that day. I'm not hungry and not weak. The not being weak surprises me. Doctor Nighburt said I can start on Protein drink tomorrow but not to take the vitamins until after my checkup with him on the 16th. I want to tell you all, I have the small, square bandage-looking bandaid thing on a few spots, had the drain tube, (now a real bandage where that was) and even about a two in*****ision with STAPLES! And ya know what? I even told this to Dr. Nighburt today when he stopped by to see me... I do NOT feel like my stomach has been cut or anything. Other than just a little sorenss and the gas of course, it just doesn't seem real. Yesterday and today it has felt like a dream. REALLY, A DREAM! Was it like this for anyone else? The "update on Gale" was my daughter posting for me to let you all know that I had made it through surgery. She was brief, I see. I've walked about 45 minutes total since I've been home and feel better for having walked. It was divided into two walks though. And, I started like most women but was fortunate enough that it didn't happen until today and the cath came out yesterday morning around 5 a.m. GLAD to get RID of that thing. What a neusence. (sp). I just wanted to let you all know how I'm doing. I'm going to post on the other board and then drink some very warm tea. I have flem in my throat and it's so very sore. I've been trying my best to cough but that's still extremely painful and difficult for me. I'm going to have to try more often than I am though. My deep breathing is good. That's it for now. I'll paste and copy this post to the main board and then will probably be off for the night. I'm not much up for sitting here at the computer too long right now. Brenda, thank you so much for calling to check on me yesterday. It was so nice to talk to you. Gale
