I am six weeks post op. First week I was feeling great!!! Then I had a set back and wound back in the hospital for a couple of days. I had HORRIBLE pains. Dr. could not find out why. Ever since I have been so nauseated that I barely eat or drink. The sight and smell of food makes me sooo nausea. Sometimes I puke 20 minutes after trying to eat or drink. I know that I need all the protein I can get, but I am only able to eat a few oyster crackers a day. This seems to settle my stomach a little, but that is all I can manage to eat. Went to my surgeon for a follow-up and told me this sometimes happens, but if I were not better in 2 weeks call him. I did call him last Wednesday, but have not heard from him yet!!! Thank goodness for my primary doctor!!!! I can't take phenegran during the day because of work. I try to take it at night, but it is difficult with kids and their schedules. We are constantly going, especially now that school is out. Has anyone had this happen to them??? How long does it last and will it ever end??? To date, I have lost almost 50 pounds. I do not regret having the surgery and would do it over again in a heartbeat, but I am getting tired of feeling so yucky and my family has been great, but it is taking a toll on them also.

I would certainly call them back. Did they check while you were in the hospital for a stricture? How about internal hernia or bowel obstruction? Are you still having pain or is that resolved? There are the rare patients who have what I call the FIRST TRIMESTER syndrom, where for no reason they just stay nauseous, and then it just goes away and they do just fine. But there is no pain associated with this ongoing nausea. Call the office and ask to be seen. Cathi Roskind

Hello Ana, I haven't any advice, (I am pre-op) but I just wanted to send you some good vinbes and prayers your way that you get to feeling better soon. I would encourage you to keep trying your surgeon on the phone and force your voice of concerns; don't let him blow you off. If there is still pain, tell him so. Take care and try to be well-- Dee
