Hello everyone. I have posted on here a few times, but haven't formally introduced myself. I am 31 and the mother of two boys. I live just outside of Louisville, in Crestwood. I have been battling my weight pretty much my whole life. I started researching WLS about 4 yrs ago, but have been fighting and fighting with my insurance companies with no luck. All of my policies have had written exclusions and after appealing and appealing, I have decided to go ahead and self pay. Since I started researching 4 years ago, it seems like everyone but me has been approved and has had surgery........ mom, sister, MIL, FIL, aunt and cousin have all had the gastric bypass and here I am, fat as ever. It's so frusterating and depressing! My surgeon is Dr. Jeff Allen and I will be having the laparoscopic gastric bypass. I went to the Norton Bariactric Center today and had my nutrition and psych consultations, and I have an appt with Dr. Allen next Friday. Since I'm self pay I will be able to get on the surgery schedule very soon. I am super excited and am so ready to start my "new" life. I'm so tired of being fat and miserable. I look forward to getting to know all of you!! Hugs, Stacie

Hi Stacie, welcome to the board..I have heard that Dr. Allen is pretty awesome..good luck and please post your questions, concerns ..etc..any time. in June it will be 3 years since my surgery and I would do it again in a heart beat!! only difference I would definately chose a doc that does laparoscopic..that is such a huge difference in down time, healing, etc..etc. you chose a good doc. you will do great! I had to fight with my insurance for over a year before I got approved. I had my bypass done in March @ Georgetown & I'd do it again. I've lost 53 lbs so far & can pull off my old jeans without unbuttoning them! I get excited about weighing myself now. You've made the right decision. You'll be on the losing side before you know it! Best of luck to you Stacie.
