ANYONE GOING to a seminar in louisville monday night?

Hi all! I am scheduled to go to a seminar in Louisville tomorrow night at 7PM and was wondering if anyone on here would be there?! It is for Drs. Olsofka, Lusco, and Schuster (www.lapbandoflouisville.com). Has anyone been or heard of them? Had surgery with them? Please write/post about your experience with them if so! I haven't talked to anyone who has heard of them so far, and was just curious! :-S Thanks! Karly

OK, so, no one on here went i assume, but there sure were A LOT of people there last night!@ Dr. Lusco gave an interesting presentation, most of the same stuff I have learned here though. I asked him how long we should quit smoking before surgery and he said 3 weeks! i know i can do it, i just needed that number in my head to get me started... i have had 2 today, so it is NOT easy! I all of you that have smoked before and quit! REALLY! I DO! Other than that, he said (the doc) that the way they do fills is different than what I have heard from you all! He said they help you find your sweet spot after 6 weeks post-op by having you into the office, then drinking water as they fill you and something about when the water rushes down into your stomach-they can tell where you need to be filled (or how much to fill you rather). ANYONE HEARD OF THIS PROCEDURE? or had it done??? please post if so! thanks guys! Karly PS, still going to dr. shina's thing on may 30!

I am one of Dr. Olsofka's patients. I have had the procedure done with the water. It is a very weird feeling. You can feel the water go down and then he puts a little saline in the band and the water gets stuck. Then he pulls a little out. You drink some more. And he puts a little back in. It does not take long. The staff at Dr. Olsofka's is great. I hope this helps. BTW I had my surgery on 12-14-2005. I have had two fills. I started at 409. In five months I have lost 86 pounds so far. John, That is great-about your losses so far! good luck to you! i was beginning to wonder if anyone on here was a patient of this group?!?! I am glad to hear of someone going to the same docs! could you tell me how long the process was for you from turning in the packet, then your first appointment? i mailed my packet last week, monday, and i know they say about 2 weeks for the surgeons to review, but i am getting anxious! i am scheduled to go hear a presentation from dr. shina's office this thurs., just to compare. i know shina's office has been doing it for longer (the band), but Dr. Lusco's program sounded good to me! did you use insurance? thanks, and again, congrats on your lbs. lost! karly

Karly...this is what OH and the boards is all about...it's important to hear about the different programs and doctors..I can only go by the ones I have spent time with, and those that have welcome me in as a visitor..but I know there are some awesome surgeons and centers that I have never even heard of..Please keep us updated on your experiences and information... Brenda, I will definately keep you all up to date on my dates! LOL I am hoping to get a call on the packet I turned in last week very soon, so I may just have an appointment soon! I am very hopeful! The only thing now is quitting smoking, and insurance questions! Lot sof work to do on my part, but I am preapred! Thanks for writing! Karly
