St. Luke's Hospital (N. KY) Support Group

Can someone tell me if St. Luke's Hospital in Northern KY has a support group that meets on a regular basis for gastric by-pass patients. If so, please forward info on the meeting time and location. Thank you.

Thank you Donna that was very nice - hello to you to you neighbor! I'm familiar with Dr. Curry. What a neat man. He did my brother's gastric by-pass Sept, 2004 at Deconess Hosp in Cincinnati and I also have two cousins that had it done with Dr. Smith's group. Small world. The purpose of my message is to try and find a support group closer to home (Kentucky if possible). It is important to me to stay in contact and attend Support Group Meetings to keep me on track. It has been one of the best factors that has helped me be successful in losing my weight, since we can relate to each other that are going through the same thing. I'm active in a surgical weight loss support group now (member for over 2 years), but they have relocated and it is getting very difficult to make the meetings. I do stay in contact with the group by the internet, but it's not the same as being there in person. My surgeon's support group originally met in Mason, Ohio, which is pretty far out from where I'm located. They have relocated their meeting site also, and it's still difficult for me to get to those meetings. I don't think there are any rules being a member of a couple of support groups for surgical weight loss? Just looking for a surgical weight loss group in the Northern Ky area that I can meet with. If anyone knows of a group meeting in Kentucky (Boone, Kenton or Campbell Counties), please advise. Thanks! Maria

There is definately a support group at St. Luke hospital once a month. I heard they have a great turn out. I will email Jane who attended and see if she will post the info for you. Brenda.

I emailed Dr. Sonannstine to get the info for you...here is his reply "outsiders are welcome.........the group meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 5:30 in a conference room next to the Center.". If you walk in through the ER all the way back through the double doors pass the Weight loss center you should see signs.. If you enter from the main lobby turn to the right...there is a single elevator or stairs on the right hand side before you go down the hallway..that elevator/stairs takes you right to the hallway...by the WL center. hope this helps Brenda

Hello Maria R. There is a post op support group at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence KY. It is the 4 th Tuesday of every month at the Tristate Surgical Weight Loss Center. It starts at 5:30 pm and lasts about 1 hour. If you have any questions the office would be glad to speak to you about it, just give them a call 859-962-4625. Thanks Kristine

Maria, Glad you asked this question. Dr. Gersin did my surgery too and it has been almost impossible to make it to the support group in Mason and now in Fairfield. I'm glad to know we are welcome to go to this group. Hope to see you there. Ann

Hi Ann Hope you can make it. They seem to have an agenda each week. Last month they had a plastic surgeon come in and talk it was really informative. No sure what is happening in June. I missed several because that is our Church night but that will be over in Two weeks. Love Forward to seeing you Jane

Maria, I attend Dr. Alexander's Meetings that are held at Christ Hospital on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 6pm. It is held in the lower level classrooms at Christ.
