Topic: RE: Moving to Wichita KS any support groups there?
Thanks, I called them and they want like $800 to join their support group then $180 to take pre-surg. classes even though I already had surgery they said they want everyone to be on the same page. I don't think you should have to dish out $1000 for a support group. The ones I have been through in KC were all free!!!!
Topic: Wichita Support Group????
I just moved to Wichita a month a go and I'm looking for a local support group to go to. I called Via Christi and they want like $800 to join their support group which is crazy!!!! I thought there's got to be something local that is free?
If anyone knows of an OH support group or other bariatric support groups in Wichita please let me know.
Thanks,
Topic: OK, give me the bad news...
OK, for anyone who has been to the Tallgrass orientation seminars recently, give me the bad news--how long are Medicare patients waiting now for WLS?
Last time I had heard (February), they were pushed to August-September at the earliest. Now that we are approaching that time frame, IF the psych eval is ever found, I'm just curious how much longer I'll be in limbo.
I've had a rough few months. Got through the 3 month diet under doctor step and then just felt like I gave up inside. I didn't go on a binge, just qui****ching what I was doing. So I'm back up 3-5 lbs. Most days I feel hopeless, that I'm too much of a light-weight to be considered, they'll never do Medicare patients again, they'll never find my psych eval, etc. In my current state of mind, it might not be good to re-take it lol...
An online group I belong to is starting up a "biggest loser" contest July 1st, and I'm going to try doing it. Simply because I don't know what else to do. I've started drinking 1-2 Slimfast shakes a day and then one-two meals a day, and I've walked an hour 3 times in the past week. The school said I can come up there and walk inside while they have summer school, so that is cooler and easier on my joints than our uneven streets.

Topic: lost my psych eval!!!
I can't believe this.... I went to Emporia FEBRUARY 15th and did the psych eval testing, along with 2 other people who I am assuming have already had their surgery by now. I mentioned to my therapist in April that I had never heard anymore about it, so he called the records people and they said my case manager had my file. He got my file and there was NO testing in there (except from 2000 when I went through my divorce). So every week since then he has asked the records dept. if they have found my testing yet so we can do the interview and get on with it so I can try for the surgery (all my other paperwork is turned in). 8 weeks later and they still haven't found it! This is just crazy.... and depressing....

Topic: RE: Has anyone had revision surgery @ Tallgrass?
I have not had the DS, but I am a Tallgrass patient. I just saw Dr. S as I had to go in for my 4 yr follow up last month. He said they have been doing for around 9 mos now with great results. He is an excellent surgeon. You would be in great hands.
Topic: Has anyone had revision surgery @ Tallgrass?
