Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy.  Basically it is similar to the RNY only they remove the extra stomach and do not reroute the intestines.  I am having it done in Edmond, OK on Thursday.  It is a safer procedure than the RNY and does not have the malabsorbtion side effects.

Ok, I'd call Dr. Dorts office back and ask for someone in the billing department and find out who can work on your behalf to inform the insurance company that the only Dr's who perform WLS only do them @ Via Christi.   good luck.

Thanks for the info. I actually just got off the phone with SFL. My insurance denied me because Dr. Dort can operate at Wesley. However, I called his office, and his nurse advised he does not do ANY WLS at Wesley. I feel like I am caught in the middle, and no one knows who to talk to.

I have Aetna insurance, which seems to not have any hang-ups and will pay 100% if I can get it approved.

LOL!  Good cuz I'd have to give you up too.

I haven't been to a support group meeting yet (daughters wrapping up their softball season) but plan to soon.   Who runs the meeting?

I would get all of the details done before you have the surgery. Don't wait until after you recieve the EOB. And I also would have Via Christi give you something in writing as to how they will do the credit. Always get it in writing, you never know, verbal comunications are hard to make someone stand up to.

Life is a journey, don't waste the trip.
