Ginger,

It does take quite a bit to get everything in motion. Just try to enjoy the time to look forward to your new life and research a lot here on OH. You can learn so much during this time. If your BMI is high enough, I'd encourage you to get started losing as much as you can before the actual surgery. I dropped almost 50 pounds before surgery and you can count on an easier 100 pounds from the surgery itself. Beyond that, it is totally up to you how well you do. I worked with Tallgrass group (known now as Turning Point) and was totally satisfied wiith the top-notch and professional approach to weight loss surgery. They easily get my five-star rating...

Hi Lopermom,  Thanks for the article by Diana Cox.  It was fascinating.  I had no idea about glycogen.  I wonder if that is an ongoing scenario.  It sure does explain a lot.  Thank you, thank you.

Thank you Mendee for your reply.  It does make sense that I would be loosing it more slowly.  I have started to loose weight again , thank God.  It's been about 81/2 weeks and I've lost 31#.  it's happening slowly but surely.
I'm also off all my diabetic meds (insulin included),which was my first priority.

I hope your surgery is soon .  God bless you.

Hi everyone,

I am completely frustrated.  I went to the orientation meeting two weeks ago and when I didn't get a call within a week, I called and emailed until  I finally got through yesterday. and got things jump-started.  My physical is on Sept. 10 and then I can start my 8 weeks of classes and 3 psych appts.  She said I'd be looking at the end of Nov. or early Dec to have my surgery.  Gads that is a long time.

Does everyone have to go through this much and wait this long?  Oh and I should also say that this length is not because of months of dieting I have to do.  My insurance doesn't require that.  And for each of these 12+ classes and appts. I have to drive about 200 miles round trip.  I am beginning to think that I did not pick the right doctor.

ARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!

Go check out my posts in the OH recipe forum and YES these are the same recipes I use to bust stalls for people who have really difficult diets.

The mushie that I mentioned in the recipe forum is one of the best that I've reviewed and everyone on the OH forums seems to love them!

Lemme know in the recipe forum if you like them!    Thanks..

Hi everyone,

I am very new to OH.  Does anyone know a dr. in the KC area that will prescribe weight loss medication?  My PCP refuses to, but I want to try that before going onto bariatric surgery.  Thanks in advance.

Hi there! Guess I kind of fell off the face of obesity help! I have been busy in the yard and studies, and just got away from OH. Also, saw some snipping and sniping on there, and I just didn't want to be a part of that or even read it! I know there is a lot more positive than negative on there, and it is an inspiration to SO many people!
I am getting ready to leave on Friday for a few days to go up to north central Kansas for a family reunion, then September 6th, we are having about 50 people here for a 50th birthday bbq for me! Will be a lot of work, but a lot of fun too!
As for weight loss, I have lost 153# now, and am 7# away from my goal! I am pretty happy with things, though there are the minor annoyances that come with this surgery! So, how are you doing? Hope all is going well for you! Good to hear from you!

Hey LaNeta,
What happened to you?  Haven't seen a post from you in  a long time.  Just curious as to how you're doing.

I have been looking for a FREE support group in the Wichita area does anyone know of such a thing?  Via Christi requires a huge amount of money to join theirs which is stupid!  I came from KC and there I never had to pay to go to a support group even if I didn't have my surgery there.

They usually talk about various issues that come up for post-ops...nutrition, vitamins, etc. Lots of topics relevant to us. You don' t have to sign up. I went back in June for the first time in 4 years, it was kind of nice to reconnect...although I forgot for July and August!!! They don't ask you to introduce yourself. Some post-ops do go and share their stories for the seminar for info seekers afterwards, but you're not required to do so.
