Topic: My child could use your help

So I know this is not weight related, but hey, we also post about our lives, right? If you want to help us out, it would be great.

My son has entered a contest at a local radio station here in Arkansas. The child with the most votes at the end of the contest wins a trip for his family to Disney World. I didn't expect this to turn out to be a popularity contest, but it has. Voting ends September 26th and he is really trailing. You can only vote once per IP address and we only have one PC and few friends and family members.

Anyways, if you want to help us out, please go to www.kssn.com and click on Kiddieokee. Then click on the 2-4 age group. My son is  #2 on the list, he is wearing a white t-shirt and he sings "Folsom Prison Blues". His name is Wyatt. Wyatt really wants to go see Mickey Mouse and with your help, he can! Thanks everyone and please pass the word along to your friends and family members also!

Topic: Health Insurance
My friend is currently uninsured. We are looking for a way to insure her in the least expensive way possible. In New York, where I am from, there are various levels of government insurance that, if she were living here, I know she would be eligible for based on her income level. Are there similar insurance plans in Kansas that she would be eligible for coverage? Is there a place she could go to get information on her best option for medical insurance?

My friend is looking to get Laparoscopic Bypass in December of 2008. I want her to have medical insurance so she could speak to a therapist before and after the procedure. Accordingly, we are looking for insurance that will cover going to a therapist. As long as we are looking for medical insurance we are also looking for one that might cover the surgery.

We both are aware that most insurances nickle and dime patients who try to use them cover this procedure, but maybe someone on this board had a good experience with a specific insurance company and can give us some advice.

Thank you for your time and any advice you can give us,
A friend

Hi, there and welcome.  I didn't know you haven't had surgery yet when I replied to your post regarding the support group.  I don't mind being the leader just need a meeting place, my house is filled with dogs that would bark at everyone and we would never get anything done. LOL....  We had a support group in KC that was started my an OH memeber we met at a church one Mon. a month but some thought that once a month wasn't enough so maybe we could do it a few times a month.  Support groups are very important in this journey it helps us keep on track and motivated.

I remember getting my surgery date it made everything feel so real.  Congrats!  This is an amazing journey, get ready for a big life change.

Where at in Wichita do you live?  I live on the west side.  I just moved here from KC in May so I don't have any friends here yet.  Would you like a workout buddy?  I met a lady here on the OH boards that lived near me in KC and we would go to the YMCA every week and do water aerobics so I really miss that and I need to get back into exercising.

That's a great idea since I can't seem to find one.  I actually thought about that starting one but I am new to Wichita and wasn't sure where to have the meetings.  I am from KC and we had one there that was started by OH members and we met at a church on a Mon. evening.  Do you live in Wichita or surrounding area?  How long ago did you have surgery?  I am a little over 7  months post op.  Let me know if you want to do this maybe we can get more people interested?
