The classes and everything you go through with Solutions and have to pay EXTRA for, is nothing more than info provided by other programs that are all included in the price of the surgery.  Every surgeon, or should I say good surgeon....and medical facility will inform you of everything you need as far as education and how you should be eating, etc. etc. etc.  I don't think that there is anything wrong with Solutions for Life's program.  I just believe that they are a cash cow and taking advatage of the fact that there isn't any other options for wls in the wichita area.  They are charging outrageous fees for anything and everything they can.  Where I really got disgusted with them was when I found out that they knew Via Christi wasn't contracted with my insurance, but they didn't say a thing to me until I was completely done with their pre-op program and out alot of money.  They were hoping that I would go ahead and stay with them and use "out of network" coverage.
I know the waiting game is the hardest part of this entire process and most everyone has had to go through it.  I know I did.  However, I went through it with SFL, a different program thru LivLite, and then finally with Dr. Hoehns group.  However, I did have my surgery within a year of beginning the process.  Regardless of the wait....don't give up and don't get discouraged.  Take the time to start trying to adjust your habits and your ways of thinking.  The mental part of wls is the biggest challange to overcome.  It's not just the way we eat...it's the way we THINK about eating.  Best of luck!!!

Wow!  You look great!  I am so glad to see someone do so well on the lap band.  I am currently going thru the Solutions program but am a bit discouraged.  I was told I could probably have my surgery in late Nov. or early Dec. and now the other night the instructor said they were already scheduling Dec. and it would likely be Jan or Feb for us.  We finish our classes in early Nov. and that seems like a long time to be in a holding pattern.  And I've met my deductible for 2008.  So I'm a bit discouraged.  But I think the whole program that Solutions does might be the best for me to be successful.  What kind of program did you do?

Topic: RE: Anyone in JC Ft Riley area?
Hello, I am very new to the process.  I live in Junction City.  I just starting seriously to look into WLS as my new employer will cover the surgery.  Before I had an exclusion so I thought there was no hope.  I didn't care then about taking care of myself.  Funny now that I have this option in front of me I am doing everything I can to avoid the surgery, but leaving the surgery out there as an option.  Right now I am concentrating on behavior modifications and eating the right foods before I get the surgery, because the surgey helps, but it isn't gonna do everything and it isn't a magic bullet.  I have realized that this is just my battle in life, and if I have this tool, I will be using it.  But I cannot live with myself if I know I didn't truly try everything I could before I went to this step.

PM me sometime....

Good news!  GCH is back in-network for BCBS subscribers.  No word on whether the geary county, and city of jc's new health plan will cover the surgery.
