Topic: Anyone from Independence KS or close?
Hello all!
I am originally from SEK but have been living in MN for the past 8 years. Just moved back home to the Independence area. I had my WLS in Minneapolis on 10/12/07 and am 8 lbs from goal. The folks from OH in the metro area gathered for coffee on Saturday mornings for support and just to keep each other motivated. I'd like to see if anyone in the Independence area would be interested in doing something similar. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.
Have a great one!

Hugs ~ Lisa

Topic: Dr. Iann Villanueava
Has anyone been banded by Dr. Villanueava?  I don't know much about him and was wondering if anyone would be able to give me a little insight.  Also I am self-pay and am curious as to the amount that he charges.  Thanks!  Any information that you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I live in Illinois but am going to go to the Weight Loss Surgical Center in Overland Park, Kansas to be banded and was just curious if anyone had also gone with them and how their surgery and experience went.  Any feedback would be appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

This makes me so sad...  Truly sad.  Why do the good doctors always seem to leave?

When I was coming out of from the drugs of surgery, I swore I heard someone say that Dr. Steward was leaving.  It's been a little nag in the back of my head, but I thought I had just been hearing things.   I mean, I saw a cat on the ledge of the window and a window in the bathroom that weren't there, too, so why would I remember things correctly, either?

I really like Dr. Steward and am not sure I can grow the trust I have with anyone else.  sigh.  It

It's a great loss for Kansas, indeed.

Hi, Mark.
You have done so well! I rejoice with you. I know you must feel so much better. I saw in your other reply that you and your wife both have had surgery. I think that's wonderful, because you're both on the same page.
Blessings,
Mary

Just hang in there. You'll get it ironed out and be on your way to the new you. It actually gets fun. My wife and I did RNY together. She did hers 3 weeks after I did mine. It's been a thrill ride. Helping each other out celebrating mile stones. We were lucky. I have medicare and she has CHAMPVA insurance. Both pay for the surgery. Once you get rid of the IV bottle things will take off for you too.

I'd like to get down to 225 or less but it is proving to be a lot of work. At 6'2" that is where I should be according to my doctors chart. I look and feel great where I am though. So if I don't lose any more that's OK too. I can actually shop at Walmart for clothes now. No more 5XL just L. Size 36 jeans down from 58. No more diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, etc. If I don't lose another ounce it's been well worth it. I'm stable here so it looks like I'll stay healthy regardless. I'll try to post more here. I know how difficult it can be to get this surgery in Kansas and I'd like to encourage people. I think that's where some hostility comes on though. Folks just can't get it paid for and are frustrated.

Marti,
Below is the website for a friend of mine who has a photography business.  She is terrific!  Not cheap....but what photographer is?!   You can give her my name, if you decide to contact her.
