Hi, Mendee.
I see that you're from Mulvane. I live in Winfield and have started a support group called Winfield L.I.G.H.T. (Losing Inches, Getting Healthy Together) Support Group. If you do not have a support group to attend but would like one, we'd love to have you join us the 2nd Sat. of every month, from 2-3 p.m., at the Winfield E-Free Church Library, 3725 E. 9th Avenue. If you have any questions, feel free to give me a call at 620-229-8775. I am in the process of getting OH certified. We have a small but wonderful group, and we discuss topics of interest, have time to share joys and concerns, have a goodie basket from which a lucky winner chooses a "prize," and even taste test a healthy recipe. :)
Blessings,
Mary

Topic: RE: Searching for physician in Kansas
I am having revision surgery done on Thursday 1/29. My surgeon is Dr. Brent Stewart of Tallgrass Surgical. His practice is in Topeka. I highly recommend him and his associates. His nurse is Rochelle Garland. I cannot say enough about her.

I hope you find someone who is competent to address the situation.

Topic: RE: protein shakes
You might do a Google search using 'protein' and 'sample' as keywords.  Maybe you can obtain some samples rather than shelling out $25 and more on protein powders.  Personally, I found the EAS protein powders and shakes to be pretty tasty - especially the AdvantEdge low-carb ready to drink.  EAS products are available most places - WalMart, Sam's, etc.  Look online, though.  You can find some pretty good deals.

For a treat, try Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein (1 liter bottle).  It tastes like cappuccino and I found it in WalMart (in the yogurt section).  It has 10g protein per 8oz.serving - not great, but pretty decent.  You can mix it with coffee and it tastes great (if you like mocha cappuccino).  Regulate your self accordingly, though; it also packs 178 calories and 29g of carbs in the same 8oz. serving.
I limit myself to one-half to one serving a day.  Good luck!

Try blending a banana with a little COLD skim milk.  Also add a few ice chips.  Works with EAS products.

Where in Ks? We have many surgeons, but I believe the biggest concentration of them is in the Kansas City area. Give us a location and we can give you better information!
