HI, I live in Overland Park too. I have not been on this site in awhile, and I just saw your post. Did you start a support group? I was banded at the Weigh Loss Surgical Center off of 135th Street in Overland Park by Dr. Lee Nigro.

I was banded at the Weight Loss Surgical Center in Overland Park, KS. My surgery experiece went just fine. I was banded on November 1, 2007. I was pleased with everything. Have you been banded yet? My doctor was Dr. Nigro. The person that used to do my fills is no longer there, but now there is a guy named Mitch there and he is really good. If you live in Illinois, how come you are coming to Overland Park for your surgery? Just curious.
If you have any other questions, please let me know. I would be glad to answer them.

I also had my VSG surgery done in OK at Foundation Bariatric/Weight Wise. The VSG wasn't offered in Wichita last summer so I really didn't have a choice. My only recommendation would be if your insurance will pay for it, then I would use them. I did run into some complications (I usually do with any surgery) and I ran into problems with my BCBS insurance refusing to pay for my complications because they don't cover weight loss surgeries. It is something you really need to consider. At least check with your insurance to make sure they would cover you in the event of any complications. Unfortunately, I didn't have a choice and now I have a really large bill to pay, but I would do the surgery again in a heartbeat. It has been worth it. Good luck.

Research, research, research. Then I attended a seminar in OK that gave all 3 options (they don't do DS) and weighed the pros and cons of all 3 and came to the decision to do the VSG. You really just have to gather as much info as you can and then sit down and see which one works best for your situation. It is a big decision and one that only you can make. Good luck.
