HI!  I saw your post and you had surgery with the same dr about the same time.  How is it going for you?  I can't believe its been 1 year!  I have been to some support group meetings in Junction but it is about a 2 hour drive to get there so I don't some every month.  I do go to the meeting here in Hutch and it is ok.  People are friendly but more of a chat session than educational.  Take care

Ginger,
Good luck on your upcoming surgery.  I am sure you are doing great on your two week diet to prep.  Stay on track and it will pay off for you.  I attend the support group in Hutchinson every month.  Its a small group but friendly.  We would love to have you join us.  Vicki

I do not know.  Best thing to do is to either call both Humana and Dr.  Udobi, or get to the websites that hold information.  Though Dr. Udobi would be best to have a consult with.

Hi,

Had surgery in 2004. Barely lost 100 pounds. Now regain is killing me and my spirit. First surgery done through Heatlhnet/United Health, but no longer with them. I'm now with Humana PPO.

How does Humana handle Gastric bypass, and are they revision /DS friendly?
Does Dr. Udobi do revisions, or should I look elsewhere?

Thanks for the input.

Hi, Ginger.
Congratulations on your upcoming surgery. I didn't have to do the liquid diet pre-op, but I had to do it post-op, so I know how hard it is. Just keep your goal in mind.
I was nearly 53 when I had surgery, with quite a few co-morbidities, but I did just fine. No complications, thank God.
Keep a positive attitude and pray hard. You'll be fine.
Blessings,
Mary

Hijack--
Hey, send those Ark Citians to my group. Winfield is just 18 miles away from them, and we would LOVE to have them come. Not that I'm trying to steal sheep; just trying to be helpful. ;)
Blessings,
Mary

I am determined that all will go well.  But I'm 61 so I have my age against me.  Anyone else around that has gone through  the surgury at an older age?

Congratulations on your surgery date!!!
Yeah, the liquid diet sucks, but SO worth it in the end. I remember that. I only had to do it for one week though. Hope everything goes smoothly.
And remember...YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Hi all,

Well, after 8 months of jumping through hoops, I have a surgery date and it's almost here.  I started on the two week fast yesterday.  Gads I'm miserable  LOL.  But I'm trying to stay busy.  The surgical coordinator emphasized to me that my doctor will absolutely cancel the surgery at the last moment if he feels like my liver is not shrunk enough so I have to stay on track.  Anyway, it will be nice to have a little jump start on the weight loss.

I really am getting the pre-surgery jitters.  All sorts of morbid thoughts.  Does everyone do this?

Is there anyone in the group who goes to the support group in Hutchinson?  I thought I might try it.
