Hi Rebecca, I just recently had my banding surgery (Dec 12), and would be very interested in attending your group. I can see that time may be a factor for me as well. I work 12 hr shifts, getting off around 7:30 pm, with a schedule that varies (nurses hours). So for me 8 pm would work unless I happen to be off that day, in which case anytime would work. Debbie

Congratulations on your wonderful success with your banding. I hope I have that in my future as well. I'm feeling pretty good...still sore around the port site. I get a burning pulling feeling when I bend over. It's weird...that area is sunken in...I'm assuming things must be sutured into deeper tissue. Yep, still on liquids....and so hungry...and bored I think with my selections. From what I gather, it is ok to pulverize foods and thin them down, so I think that is what I will do. The broths, cream of whatever soups are getting old, lol. Last night I experimented with blending a turkey hot dog with spicy V-8 juice....interesting, but I think I will try something else today, lol.

Hey Rebecca! My friend Cheryl (another Lopez patient) and I are planning to come to your January meeting. I hope so anyway! Its an awfully long drive for us, or we'd come more regularly. There's a support group in Hutch that takes all kinds of WLS patients and they're mostly RNY, and there's maybe only 10-12 that attend that group. I also get together with some ladies in Wichita whenever I'm there, and we've only had 10 at one meeting. Usually there's maybe 4-6 people. I think you're providing a great atmosphere and I hope you'll continue! I hope we get to meet in January! ~Tiffany

I wish you both the best of luck! I don't have that insurance, but I was a self-pay band and it was the best thing I've EVER done for myself. Worth the effort, worth the expense, worth the wait. Good luck! ~Tiffany

Congratulations! I was banded in July 05 and have lost 101 pounds! Support groups are important. I lead one and there are many others in the area. That is the best place to get in all the good tips and tricks. I try to organize a clothing exchange as well. I am always eager to share what ever I have learned- so ask away! Best wishes- Rebecca

Hello to everyone. It has been nearly a year since I posted here. I was positng on another site, but I miss this one. I need some advice from my fellow bandsters. I started a support group several months ago. The attendance has been low. The meetings are monthly on the second Tuesday at 7 pm. I have great topics and special guests- but only a very few folks seem to make it. We meet at Heartland Spine and Specialty Hospital. Dr. Lopez was my doc, but we are open to anyone! Would a different time be better for folks? What am I doing wrong!!???? Rebecca Garoutte 276/175/145 July 6, 2005
