I just wanted to add that I have lost over 120lbs in 6 months My average day of eating looks like this B- 20 oz glass of milk and usually some sausage, egg and cheese biscut with only half the biscut L- Roast beef or turkey sandwich on whole wheat bread with all condiments and cheese S- Nuts or some sort of trail mix or yogurt or a banana D- Any grilled, fried, baked, BBQed meat.(Chicken, Beef, Pork, Fish,etc..etc..) A vegetable and usually another glass of milk during the evening I can get in about 100-150 grams of protein a day with out protein shakes. I do have to take a calcium supplement and a multi vitamin everyday I have been able to eat like this since I left the hospital. I did not have to be on a baby food diet and I can drink with my meals. Now granted, I can not eat nearly as much as I used too. My first couple months I could only eat about 3-4 oz at a time but now that my stomach is healed up I can eat a normal size, 6-8 oz portion of food now. Again... Good Luck Hubba

I was just wondering which "2 surgeries" you were refering too. Because there are more than 2 options. I assume you are talking about the RNY and the Lap band. but there is another option. I decided to have the BPD/DS which is bilio pancreatic devesion with a duodenal switch. With this surgery, you are left with a fully functioning stomach. There is no dumping and you can eat normally and still lose weight because of a smaller stomach and malabsorbtion. It also has a higher sustained weight loss over time than the other "2" I would like to invite you to come to the "Duodenal Switch" board right here on OH or you might want to visit www.duodenalswitch.com I just wanted you to know that there are more and possibly better options available. Dont just have the RNY or Lap band, because that is what everyone else is having, and those are the only options the surgeons around here perform. It may be worth it to you to do a little traveling. I traveled to Omaha, Nebraska to have mine done by one of the top bariatric surgeons in the world. Please be sure and check out all of your options and Good Luck Hubba

At least your surgery date is far enough away to allow plenty of time to reschedule this stuff. I think the real issue here is not the weather as much as it is that march 20 is still 2 months away. Been there done that. Never did figure out a way to deal with it so I'm afraid I can't help much there. I feel so inadequate. Just keep posting here. Maybe if you keep sharing anticipation you'll manage to give enough of it away to make it.

Topic: Louisiana gal back at it in Wichita!!!!!!!!
Hi everyone I am Kelli and I am kind of new to board. Well I was a frequent flyer in Louisiana and last year when I moved here I introduced myself but I decided to go away. Not away from Kansas but from OH. I just became a little discouraged but now I am working at it again. I just called Kansas medicaid and tommorow I am going to my PCP so that they can submit a letter for me. I also have an approval from Louisiana that I am going to send to them. I could use all of the supportive words that I can get. Please each and everyone of you that have any information about an accomodating surgeon, let me know.

Trish, Thanks for putting it all into perspective for me. Now when I feel impatient I will think about what you said and remember all the other people who have been waiting forever for this surgery. I should be grateful to at least have a date. Steph

Hey, i know how you feel. I too am waiting the waiting game. It sucks, but im seriously being patient as possible. I think the main thing keeping me patient is knowing that other people have waited years to do this, and if they can wait...so can i. As far as im concerned my psych eval finally got submitted so hopefully everything got submitted to my insurance company if not friday then today. I really truly hope it's not "oh we need one more thing" and i get it and it turns into 5 more things. If only they had said that from the start. Good luck

Topic: RE: BCBS Kansas City
There's a guy on here named CHad Bennet, he too has BCBS of Kansas, and they refuse to cover the surgery for him. He has been writing letters to congress to get it changed. Maybe u should email him. I have his work email if you want it. Turns out me and him are old friends. Good Luck Trish
