Topic: RE: looking for a supporting Doctor
He said it was a motivation thing for people who are wanting to lose weight and can't - he suggest going to the gym and doing on a diet. If only it was that easy - If I had 10 or 20 pounds to lose yes I would do that but I have alot more then that! Amanda

Hey I am doing fine That sure is a shame you had to wait till the new card came in. I hope and pray your doctor will get you all set up and you will be on your way. I know I am so ready for March to get here but I am taking this time to get myself as healthy for surgery as possible. I wish you well.

Thanks so much Steph....I can hardly contain my excitement!! But at the same time, I dont want to many people to know about this, just in case, for some reason, it doesnt go through the approval process. I know there is always the appeal process, and I'm hoping it doesnt have to get to that point. I'm just excited that there are no exclusions to my insurance policy!! Appeals I can fight, exclusions I cant!! LOL
Congratulations on getting your surgery date!! I'm very excited for you!!!!

Topic: First Steps!!
I just confirmed with my insurance that WLS is covered!! I'm scheduled to attend a seminar on Feb 5th at The Bariatric Center of Kansas. I'm being cautiously optimistic right now, because I could always be denied for one reason or another...but the outlook is looking good! I'm over 40 on the BMI scale and have at least 2 co-morbidities that should allow for an approval....but I'm still afraid of getting my hopes up to high.
My insurance requires a letter of medical neccessity from my PCP (he's very supportive!), a letter from the Surgeon, a psych eval and a consult with a Nutritionist. All of this is also covered by my insurance!!
I've been researching the lap band as well as the Roux-en-Y procedures at length and still havent come to a decision on what is best for me presently and in the future. Hopefully, the seminar and surgeon will help me to decide!!
But.....
The light at the end of the tunnel is shining much brighter!!
Wish me Luck everyone...

I know all the BCBS programs are different, but I have federal BCBS and mine was well covered, very minimal out of pocket.
