Thanks for the update. Hope she does well and comes along fine.
Topic: RE: Anyone with Coventry Insurance?
Hi Nicky. My name is Nikki Washington. I'm not sure what the other people who have replied to your post are talking about, but I have Coventry for Federal Employees and they DO APPROVE surgery if it is medically necessary. I just had RNY gastric surgery on 2/6/07. Coventry made me jump through some hoops though, getting approvals from cardiologist, pulmonologist, dietician, psychologist and I had to have tried to dieting and exercise for at least 3 months. Once I completed all of that, my surgery was approved. As far as time was concerned, I went to the wls seminar at The Bariatric Center at Shawnee Mission Medical Center on 10/24 and completed everything by December. My letter for approval was submitted on 12/29/06 and I was approved on January 17, 2007. The point is I WAS approved, I just had to follow their rules. Any questions feel free to contact me here or at my work email: [email protected].
Good luck, Nikki

April is home and doing fine. She has bit of a problem with tummy upset but sounds like she is doing better now.
Topic: hello everyone!
Hello everyone. My name is Marissa, and I am new to this message board. I have been using the OH chatroom a lot but never knew about this! Just wanted to introduce myself and if anyone has any questions or just someone to talk to in the Kansas area about surgery, to give me a hollar.

Topic: RE: Need of help
Medicare with only pay for gastric bypass surgeries. Some places in Kansas that do these are in Junction City, Topeka (Dr. Brent Steward was my doc) and Wichita, KS. I do NOT however recommend Wichita. My first recommendation would be Junction City if they take medicare but Dr. Steward is very very good also and does his laprascopic. He did my surgery 3 years ago this coming March 11.

Topic: RE: Website Help
Your best bet is to check with your new insurance and ask them if they cover WLS and what types of surgery. Also be sure to ask what you have to do to qualify. Some make you have a 6 month (or more) documented attempt at weight loss that is supervised by your Dr. So call them and find out as many specifics as you can and that will help you get started. Any questions let me know. [email protected]
