Topic: Need to find the right doc for me
Hi, I'm new here - but I love reading all your posts! I asked this question on the RNY message board and they suggested I ask it here. So here goes. I live in a small SE Kansas town where the nearest surgeon is 2-3 hours away. I attended a seminar in KC,KS on Sat. Was impressed with the doc, however since I am a self-pay I was a little upset by the cost. Can anyone help me out with the name of a great doc at a reasonable price. I don't want to sound like I'm "dr. shopping" but I realize that as a mom of 6 who is a self-pay I have to be realistic. I'm a little worried about going (to far) out of state or out of the US in case I have a problem. Besides the child care issues would be prohibitive. Thanks for any advice you can give. I reall appreciate it!!

Topic: RE: KANSAS ROLL CALL!!
KD RNY (to be scheduled still) 0 lbs. I toggle back and forth between 255 and 260. Just can't seem to get it to stay off for more then a week. Lose one week and gain some back the next. I am getting a little frustrated with that. I struggle with exercise right now. I just can't seem to get up and go. So pray that I can because I got to get moving. Kelli if you are in Wichita you might check with Dr Dort or Dr Lancaster. They are doing lap band in Wichita now and might be able to do your fills. Good Luck All...

Topic: RE: Thinking about having Lap Band surgery and have a couple of questions!!!!!!!
I am from iowa i had surgery in mexico 2-26-07 and i am getting aftercare in kasnas. I have not been hungrey so far at all i actually just have to set down at meal times and drink my soup or protein drink but have to make myself do this otherwise i would skip it because i don't get the hunger pains i hope this continues for the long haul. Surgery isn't that bad i am on pain meds but the only pain i am having is a little soreness and my port site hurts. But its really not that bad. I am glad i have done it i lost 10lb this week since i had it done i hope the weight keeps coming off like that. Best wishes misty

Topic: RE: Anyone with Coventry Insurance?
From what I have been told about Coventry is that it depends on the policy your employeer signs up for. Coventry writes different policies for each company. I have been to the seminar at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and they have confirmed that my policy with Coventry does not cover lap band. I have contacted the insurance company personally and I have also contacted the agency we used to get the insurance and both state that under our policy it is not covered. Maybe I am doing something wrong, but I have been to 2 consultations and both have told me that I would be a self pay because Coventry would deny the coverage under my current policy. If there is something I am missing I wish someone would help me get the first step going in the right direction. Billie
