Hi Tamara - There is a period of time that we call "Bandster hell" which refers to the time *after* you're healed (usually anywhere between 2-6 weeks postop) and the time that you've had enough fills that you have some good restriction (anywhere from 3-6 fills, on average). You can have some hunger during that time, but it is easily managed. Some people (of any surgery type) complain of having problems with "head hunger" which is like mourning the loss of food, but that can be dealt with as well. I can't say that I've ever had a problem with it, and I've been banded a year and four months. In fact, I'm relieved to feel some hunger at times, or I think I would forget to eat! LOL! Never thought I would say that!! Feel free to send me an email if you have more questions.
