Mark,
Sorry to hear about your gallbladder going bad I guess it is something to be expected with wls patients. I had mine out a long time ago so at least I do not have to worry about that. I did not realize they only keep you in for six hours. That is crazy. Times sure have changed.

Since you were home the same day, you had the laproscopic surgery for your gallbladder. That is a wonderful way to have it done. They use to have to cut you open and a nasty scar was all that was left. Don't sweat the time thing. If they did not think you were ready to go home, they would not have sent you.
You will feel better in a few days. Just don't over do it for the next week or two and things will be great!
Good Luck,
KD

Thanks, Tiffany. I am finally home they wanted to keep me until Monday but I said no way I guess my electrolytes and potassium were a little off but they put some meds in my IV and I was good to go this morning. I am a little sore and tired after the 3 hour trip home so I am going to go lay down.

I was in to see Dr. Bersten at Tallgrass last week. She removed my gallbladder on Thursday. No surprise there. Anyway St. Francis has had their on site inspection and is expecting to have their Center of Excellence rating any day now. They're just waiting for the official word. As for gallbladder surgery I'm a bit sore but otherwise fine. Had the surgery at 9am and was home by 3pm. These quick turnaround times still concern me.

Im having mine done in JC....insurance will cover it. But liv lite in JC only does open RNY not lap. You could try Topeka.....and submit an appeal to your insurance.
Good Luck!

Good Luck, Sarah!
I was banded 3/16 by Dr. Hoehn at Spine & Specialty Hospital in Overland Park. Things are also going well.......in fact, today I feel great, though I'm starting to slow down a little (but it has been a pretty busy day).
Take care!
Kelly

I don't come to this board very often, but welcome anyway. I usually spend my time on the main lap band board. Lots of new posts there daily.
Topic: New Lapbandster to KS Board
Hi! I've been lurking around the different OH Boards these last few weeks while deciding what to do. and Hooray! I had the lapband procedure done at St. Luke's Hospital on the Plaza in Kansas City MO a few days ago 3/19/07. Dr. Price is awesome - a very competent surgeon, good bedside manner, easy to talk with, listens to your concerns, and he has an even better team devoted to his bariatric surgery proctice. Sandy is the poster child for gastric bypass sugery and has an infectious spirit and enthusiasm for regaining one's life back by losing weght. Carla, Dr. Price's nurse, is funny and yet calming and "motherly" when you start to get stressed right before the surgery. So far I'm doing great. A little sorer that I had thought - it really hurts to sneeze, cough, or get the hiccups, and my throat is still scratchy from being intubated during the general anesthesia. The lapban itself is already kicking in. I'm drinking only clear liquids (well, I did add 2 Optifast protein shakes that you blend with water and ice) and I tried some plain oatmeal tonight. I could only get about 3 sponfulls of oatmeal down before I started feeling a heavy tightness between my rib cage. I assume that is the "Full" feeling I'll grow to know and love. The thought of eating any kind of food pretty much grosses me out right now, and if you had known me one week ago you'd have said "no way." I'm excited we have a local forum for bandsters and other surgical patients. I look forward to talking with many of you in the days, weeks, months to come as we work on reducing our weight and increasing our enjoyment of life!
