that is weird. Is this an informational meeting as I literally just hung up the phone with solutions for life and they mentioned nothing about a support group for bandsters.

Tammy, CONGRATULATIONS!!! That's fantastic and what we need to hear. When was your surgery? I had my physical yesterday and am doing the required (by my insurance) 6 month medically supervised weight loss process. I have to have a mammagram and pap. My classes start in June. I can't tell you how ready I am. Oddly enough I'm apprehensive about the surgery and recovery. Also, how hard was the two week fast?

I am new to this board but wanted to know if there is anyone on here from Ft. Scott, Kansas? And if so, is there anywhere around here for a support group? I see support groups for AA and NA but not for WLS....what's up with that? Thanks in advance.

Topic: RE: Its Stephanie O's big day!!
Well here is a little update on me I have lost fifteen pounds but I am not getting all my protein in. The meal replacements that we have to drink are so nasty that I am only able to choke one a day down. I am doing fine on getting my water in but that is all. I have gone thru a little buyers remorse wondering what the heck I have done to myself but maybe once I start on pureed foods things will be better. I am still a little sore where the drain has been left in but I go back to see my surgeon on the tenth and I am praying that it will be taken out. I cannot wait till I am a year out and can look back on this and think that I made it thru a difficult time in my life without having to turn to food to comfort myself. Steph

Kelli, I am sorry that you are having problems with the glue. I hope you get better. I am still a little sore and can't wait for this stupid drain to come out. I go back to my surgeon on the tenth so I am in hopes that she will take it out then. I do not belong to a support group so I am curious as to what Solutions for Life will tell you about their support group. I look forward to hearing from you on your success with the band. Steph

Just a suggestion. Has your Dr. filed for the sleeve without using the words weight loss? My sister got her's approved with the reasoning of sleep apnea, (NOT weight loss). If you have that condition, you may have the Dr. file it that way. However, my Sister does have an insurance that covers weight loss surgery also. But it might be worth a try. Good Luck Charlotte

Topic: RE: Hello
Thanks so much for the support. We have decided on Tallgrass. With all the medical problems I have, I'vd decided on the RNY, that is if the surgeon agrees with me. I've had previous abdominal surgery but it was all in my lower abdomen and I pray that the adhesions won't be in the way. Infection has always been a problem for me so I didn't want the fills that they do for the band. I want it done in one swoop. I have United Healthcare and my husband's employer has put "conditions" on the weight loss surgery. I have to go thru 8 sessions (once a week) with a coach at Healthyroads. I balked at first but I'm really enjoying the sessions. It's a 30 min phone conversation, with a "coach" getting me ready for the surgery. Then after surgery I have 12 sessions helping me get into the swing of things. I also have a psych evaluation scheduled in a couple of weeks. I plan to attend the May seminar and by then I should be just about finished with Healthyroads. So hopefully by July I will become a loser. Thanks again for the support. Trudy

I am doing really well. I had some shoulder pain but it is gone. The only problem that I have had is I guess that I am having a reaction the glue on the bandaids because my skin is broken out. I did call Solutions for Life today and they did not return my call yet. So I am still waiting on a support group. How are you doing? Are you in a support group? Thanks for asking. Kelli
