Yeah I was 378 at the beginning. I'm 217 right now, but I've had so many issues with rashes its becoming overwhelming and I've used almost all outlets with my PCP. He recommended though I am not 100% at goal that it may motivate to continue with the hard workouts as well as get rid of the rashes. Ugh ugh. I've looked at photos online, but they don't look anything similar to my pannus. Well I'm glad you liked him. Did you stay in the hospital? If so, how long? Hope you dont mind my questions. I'll let you know about the BL the nurse is going to get back to me.

well, it hung down past my groin, in fact if I tried, pushed it out it hit the top of my thighs, I was so worried because I thought it had to be mostly just skin, but mine was thick and definetly full of fat too! I want to know what the chg.s are for a brachiplasty (sp?) upper arm lift. If you asked about that or can please let me know, I am just as embarassed about that as my hanging panni (well "was" lol)but i'm sure that will be out of pocket for sure, never heard of ins. paying for that....ah well...dream dream dream. it seems by looking at you weight loss graph like we were close to the same size, i know at my heaviest i weighed 400, but was around 370 at consult, i'm 5'5. I asked him straight out and he said they do it and don't charge for it. Basically, he said its just sewing up the muscles thats about it. I understand what you are saying. He said I have a 99% chance of being approved due to the largeness of my panni. How large was yours if you don't mind me asking?

OK i figured out how to answew you(i just got off my i phone and came upstairs to the good old desk top lol. Anyhow since I have medicare they don't do pre approvals, i think basically the dr asks about back aches (answer "yes" , rashes (answer "yes"), you get the picture. he just does the procedure and has you sign a paper saying you will agree to pay if your ins. doesn't. again that is for medicare, i don't know about other types of insurance. I think you have to (tell them
you've been at a stable weight for 6 mo's or so),(i've fluctuated by a couple lb.s or so). be prepared to have him measure and take pictures...don't worry it really wasn't as embarassing as I thought it would be, and DON'T SUCK IT IN!! let all the gory glorious skin hang as far down as it want's , it looks better for the ins. pictures for approval...i know i know..i had to force myself,it is so ingrained to hide that disgusting flap i know lol. Since he already told you about the anchor cut (does that mean t.t instead of panniculectomy?, i didn't know) will he bill for the panni or the t.t? since most ins. will not pay for a t.t it's considered cosmetic ,not just the bare min. of a panni removal and no muscle tightening, it's just to stop the rashes and back pain. I am a little worried he will try to bill for the t.t and have to pay out of pocket. sorry you ask me for advise and i turned back to you lol. If I can "help" you in any way please don't hesitate to ask, nothings off limits here, I am estatic!! I had my first appt. march 9 I think and was originally scheduled for surgery april 21 (got moved to the 28th since his wife just had had a baby and needed him home..guess that was a good enough reason lol) so it moved pretty fast for me. best of luck take care and let us know how it goes, love and hugs, Susan

That is who I went to as well. Yeah, he is doing an ancor cut as well and a TT instead of a Panni because he does feel it isnt much more work but insurance wont pay. I really like him. I'm nervous. How long did it take you to get approved from your consult from the insurance?

It went super wonderful!!! I had Dr Ponnuru, the BEST dr ever, he not only removed my panni (which is the only thing medicare will pay for) he basically did a full tummy tuck, plus he grabbed ahold of my hanging groin and pulled that up as well, , nobody really mentioned any of this in the hspital, when I woke up, it just seemd like alot more was done than originally planned, but I AM NOT COMPLAINING!!! i just have been racking my brain for something nice I can do for him...maybe bring flowers for the office on my last appt? don't know yet , but if your looking for plastics , now you know where my vote is lol !! Awesome! Thank you for letting us know how it worked out. I have bookmarked this thread. I am on Medicare and may be looking for the same procedure(s) in the future.

I also forgot to mention that the hospital only allows so many Medicare surgeries a month. That could also cause a delay in scheduling.
