WOW!!! Congratulations!!! You've done an awesome job and put in a lot of hard work in less than a year!!!!!
Topic: starting my diet AGAIN
Well, I'm starting my "3 month medically supervised diet" AGAIN... I just could not get my act together and watch my calories and quit eating out the past 2 weeks--life gets in the way sometimes with me between myself, my husband, and our 4 kids...
So now I have a big container of protein shake mix (chocolate) sitting on my counter and had my first taste of it this morning. I figure I'd have to be on a liquid diet anyway after surgery, might as well start it now. I'm going to TRY to stick with it at least until my son's birthday, April 4th. So that's about 6 weeks? This is going to be hard... I'm going to town as soon as I can get my dead battery to revive and try to find an immersion/hand blender--my sons and I want to try making fruit smoothies (they like to eat healthy, even at 10 and 9 years old!), and I figure it might take the monotony out of the protein shakes.
ARGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!

Hello All,
I also have BCBS (federal and also located in Europe). I have my 1st appointment the end of next month and the Dr. office says they will assist with preparing all of the paperwork for BCBS. They do require that I sign a disclosure to pay but my concern is will I have any issues with BCBS paying for bill? I saw where someone stated they will not cover post-op meds; after reviewing my packet I didn't see anything stating specifics about GBP (WLS).
Any pre information that anyone can share will be appreciated.

Topic: RE: Tall Grass Topeka - How do you start the process?
My doctor is Dr. Hamiliton at Ta;llgrass and he has suggested that I have the Gastric Bypass instead of the lapband because I'm a type2 Diabetic. He stated that my recovery time would be 3 weeks, is this true? I am trying to decide wheteher to have the Bypass or Lapband. I am unemployed but have a potential job next week, how long would I have to be off work? I am an Administrative Assistant. Any help you could give me would help.
Thanks
Tonia Ison

Congrats on your success. So far I am just thrilled with my surgery also. It has been a gift (which I paid for) but a true gift to help me achieve something I haven't been able to do on my own for quite some time.
I agree with you about it being a good thing.

Wow, I just can't believe that it has almost been 9 months since my surgery....and I'm down 142 pounds. For those of you with the good fortune to have this life-changing surgery, you know what I mean when looking back on it. For others contemplating such a move, this is just too incredible to believe at times. If you are going to do this, I encourage you to document what you have gone through. I maintained a pretty active profile here at OH and I don't regret it a bit. This certainly is a good place to share your thoughts and your troubles as you proceed through it.
I hope that your personal journey to/through WLS is as favorable as mine has been. I've made it successful through a well-done surgery by my great set of docs and then my hard work and determination. You can do it too...so good luck.

Ditto to the above. You have to go to the seminar before you can go. If I remember right there was something online also. They will tell you what needs to be done. I did talk to my family Dr. about it while trying to decide. I had surgery this past Dec. and I am doing great and so happy with Tallgrass and the band.

The easiest way is to call the office and see when the next 'big' meeting is that they hold. I believe it's the 2nd Saturday every month. It is a great seminar, they go over the different types of WLS and that is where you get the information packet and the application paperwork. You cannot get this any other way than to go the meeting.
Good luck! I had my surgery with them almost 4 years ago and it has truly been a blessing.

I want to start looking into getting weight loss surgery, preferrably lap band. Do I just call to make an appointment to discuss this? Do I need a referral? Basically, I just need to know how to get the ball rolling on this process.
